The Center of Time

Duncan: "Ohm Eleven, tell me what you know about this... place. And what you personally know about the Keyholder."

OOC: let's see if I'm right about Ohm being a construct, if he was programmed with the same directives and information as the abhumans.

I have not read Ohm's entry in the RG, so I'm going to get to know him through RP on this thread. Ditto Father Seren (scoundrel though he's supposed to be!).

Ohm Eleven, A Mechanical Nano who Talks to Machines

Duncan: "Ohm Eleven, tell me what you know about this... place. And what you personally know about the Keyholder."

He looks around at his surroundings for a moment. "This place? I know nothing of here or any Keyholder. My memories are...." He shakes his head as if to clear out the dust. "I am still having difficulty accessing those memories."

Echo looked at Ohm anew, ahd her face went slack with surprise...and unease. You do seem atypical," she said. "Maybe your belongings will have some clues? What do you have there?"

What he was saying felt...familiar to her. But she hadn't emerged from some vat in the floor. Had she?

Antor looks at Ohm Eleven taking note that he looks a bit out of place. "Ohm, perhaps you should bring your belongings and come over off the platform.", Antor says motioning. "Perhaps you we're captured from above and brought down here. Do you have any recollection of travelling through the Sheer?"

Ohm Eleven nods and walks towards the others. "Let's see, I have these items." He shows that he has a wristband covered in blue and purple symbols, a metal headband with glass panels, 5 metallic plates, a second wristband, a club, a book and a bag. He is wearing regular clothes. "As far as what I can remember... Not much."

"Well, it's good that Ohm is friendly," Seregal says. "Antor, thanks for helping him out. But what do we do about the others?" He moves over to stand near Echo, and addresses the gathered abhumans. "The Keyholder is here! It is time to take us to the place!"

He looks excited; while he has no idea what will happen next, he's quite keen on finding out. Seregal also updates his mental map, so he could find this place again, if need be.

The red-purple abhuman trills loudly at Seregal's words, and marches right up to Echo. It spreads it hand over the map in her hands, and a faint light begins to glow from its palm. It pauses, then trills again.

"You have shown us the way. We will go."

Behind you, the machine whines louder, as if kicking into a higher gear. The assembled abhumans come forward and stand in arcs, with Echo as a centerpoint. Curiously, they ignore Ohm entirely.

A hum vibrates the air, and the red-purple abhuman tilts is head, as if listening. "The way is clear from the last cycle - all rock extrusions removed. Incidental excursions will be removed. Appropriate environment is being laid. Necessary density of units will be created to clear all other obstacles to form the path. Keyholder, we are ready to begin. Your own units," here he seems to indicate the others in the group, "will come with you."

The membrane on the right plate bulges again, prepare to disgorge more abhumans. The red-purple abhuman urges everyone forward towards the gravity corridor, the other abhumans falling into place behind him.

Ohm Eleven is confused by the turn of events. He looks bewildered for a moment and then his features brighten. "I remember something! I need to get to an inverted mountain. Its base spreads up to blot out the sun. Has anyone seen such a mountain?"

"Incidental excursions? If that's living creatures, like the merchant caravans, we need to shut this place down. Echo, Seren, is this the core of the abhuman factory? Can you tell the Abhumans to take us there without killing any humanoid life?"

Echo couldn't contain an excited grin, which seemed almost out of place on her, given her usual reserved demeanor. Even the quicksilver blob that dogged her heels seemed to catch some of the enthusiasm as it sped up its movements and shaped into quick, erratic sculptures that melted into one another.

"Ohm, the mountain is our destination. You'll want to come with us."

She surveyed the abhumans, then spoke to Antennae.

"I'm adjusting the preparation procedure. There are to be no further attacks on living beings who do not initiate violence. If they do initiate violence, and can communicate, they must be warned and given a chance to cease hostilities before deadly force is used against them."
