The chamberlain, the king, and the dragon (drobe)

Theron is the King. You find yourself swinging a long sword and holding a battle standard in the other. You are a young man and the enemy is overwhelming the vanguard. This was your seminal battle. This battle wrote your story; the King who risked everything to save a few worthy, noble warriors who would gladly give their life for his. You waded into a throng of the enemies finest, and beat them back as your beleagured vanguard rallied. Never again would the King not be at the point of the vanguard. Does history repeat itself and you reassert your legacy? Or do you fail and your men die or perhaps you cower under the weight of this unfathomable burden?

Theren does not know failure or cowardliness. He reasserts his legacy! Men must die, but their service will never be forgotten! For the glory!

What are you doing? What did the King do? Do you remember this story? Are you calling upon that History? Are you calling upon his faith in Kord to lead him through battle? Are you barreling into the enemy headlong with righteous fury in order to terrorize them? How does this play out? You're at the Medium DC fyi. However, any use of a prior successful Primary Skill (such as Intimidate or Athletics) will put that usage at the Hard DC.

Theren will rally the men for a triumphant assault! (He has no interest in what actually happened lol). Follow me! Once more into the breach good friends! Cry Havoc! And let slip the dogs of war!

Diplomacy (9+14=23 - what is the medium DC again?)

20. You're successful. Describe your success in the dreamscape and its affect on the King. You're shunted back to the real world after this. I will move the scene forward after @pemerton resolves Thurgon's moment in the King's dreamscape.

10 Successes - 1 Failure - 4 Advantages remaining

Describe your success in the dreamscape and its affect on the King.

Theren holds high the battle standard and rallies the men to him. They make a thunderous charge against the enemy, driving them back and crushing them beneath their boots. Many men are lost but the battle was won!

The king gains new strength from the victory. He remembers what struggles were overcome and his unyielding service to his people. He remembers the feeling of victory and the costs, which renew his vigor and determination.

I've been neck deep in code for the last several days, but I'm going to maintain my previous declared action.

No problem mate. We don't have time constraints.

Just to clarify the above. Quinn appears to be seeking parlay and attempting to get the Dryad to revoke its bargain with the dragon and relent its siege of this city with the dragon's army (in exchange for fealty). Are you veteoing that via invocation of combat (as that is your previous declared action).

That is fine, just confirm for myself and LostSoul.

Confirming. Lucann cannot allow the Dryad to continue down her current path. I'll be invoking combat, but not going for blood. In my mind the stakes are Lucann's belief in Sehanine versus the dryad's belief in She Who Hates with Quinn as a wildcard. Is that acceptable?

@Campbell Of course.

@LostSoul See above. Combat is going to be invoked so, in light of that, things are going to move into standard combat action economy. If you are going to attempt to pledge fealty and move things in that direction, you're going to have to:

A) Spend your Standard Action for each of your attempts.

B) Forgo an attack action. Any attack action will automatically induce failure in your efforts.

C) The Dryad has stipulated your first test (kill your lackey - the one that betrayed her; the Court Mage).

I will get the companion character finished and attach the combat map in the next day or so.

@pemerton and @sheadunne Make sure everyone is familiarized with their characters and the numbers. If you have any questions sheadunne, let me know and I'll post his numbers per attack action (you have feats, magic items, et al that give you bonuses and different combat synergies) and break down any rules questions you have. Everyone is likely to see some actual combat. Pemerton, if you want to compose a princess build Warlord or companion character derivative for Blaine and run it, let me know please.
