The Charming Warden

Reis is still entagled and still trying to dance, so it's difficult to tell, but he seems to become more agitated. His eyes roll in Christopher's direction and his arms begin to jerk against the dance compulsion.

[sblock=ooc]Reis' save also passes either way. I can accept him being unable to talk while affected by the dance spell.[/sblock]

As the cloud seeps into your nostrils, you feel begin to feel weak and sluggish. Tibard, seeing the approach of the cloud, takes a deep breath and holds it, avoiding inhaling the cloud at all. Reis's movements begin to take on an otherworldly manner as he jerks against the rhythm of the fiddler's dance and the constraining vines, and he too manages to avoid inhaling so much of the smoke. Blue's nose, though sensitive, mostly stays beneath the thick of the smog, and so the dog is also unaffected.

Christopher, Jonah, and Jamilee, however, cannot avoid taking in deep, gasping breaths of the smoke. Jamilee's and Christopher's dancing becomes slower and even less rhythmic as their bodies are wracked by wheezing coughs. Jonah doubles over, waving his hands before him in panic.

Tibard...

[sblock=Everybody]Within the cloud (delimited on the map), you have 0 visibility. This includes even Tibard, with his darkvision.[/sblock]

[sblock=Christopher, Jonah, and Jamilee]Further incapacitated by the smoke, you take a -4 penalty to both Dex and Str.[/sblock]

[sblock=HolyMan]Jonah had a chance to notice the chest, represented by a spot check opposing a sleight-of-hand check. I rolled this opposed check, and Jonah failed, so no, unfortunately he wouldn't have noticed.[/sblock]

(Tibard is up)

Tibard advances, looking for the two little creatures to attack. If he doesn't see them after leaving the cloud, he casts a spell in hopes of detecting their magical auras. Whatever he learns he shouts out to let the party know.

[sblock=actions]Tibard advances to D9 at double movement cost, then to D8 (should be for normal cost). At this point, his possible actions in order of preference:
- Use his remaining five feet of movement to become adjacent to an enemy and attack them.
- Double move to be adjacent to an enemy, ideally being around on the other side of them (closer to row 1 than the enemy).
- Double move to get as close to the nearest enemy as possible.
- If I don't see either enemy I'll move to E7. If I still don't see them I'll cast detect magic and look around for the aura of any magical effect on them
Whatever Tibard sees he announces to the party.[/sblock]

Reis dances, continuing to jerk along to the fiddler's tune as the dark cloud swirls up around the party.
[sblock=ooc]Not sure who's up, but either way Reis can't do anything.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC] Two weeks since Rae's last activity here on EnWorld. I hope all is well in his RL. I know what it's like for something unforeseen to jump up and drag you away from posting/playing. What should we do about this game though? [/sblock]

OOG: Hi everybody, I am so so sorry about my unannounced and prolonged absence. Meatspace can be quite a place sometimes, as I'm sure you all know.

I haven't disappeared, I still want to play, but I will be touch and go for the immediate future (ie., 2-3 weeks). I will do an update tonight, and I totally understand if you guys want to call it quits.

But I promise that I will be around! Even if it's just to pop in and say, "Sorry, not tonight."

Sorry, sorry, sorry, a thousand times, I hope you can forgive me, and let's get this show back on the road. (I'll need some time to pick things up, so give me a few hours.)

[sblock=OOC] Well I know I will be out after this encounter.

A) I see no point if this forum is dead. Which it appears to be. But more importantly...

B) After this encounter Jonah will probably not be "feeling" the adventuring life. He will be put off by his failures and the way the world seems to be a constant danger, not something he is accustom to. So he will tuck his tail between his legs and head back for home and try to help there as best he can.

Now I would make a second character but again I see no point to that. I hope things change for the better. [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Of course, now several weeks later, I'm looking at the Fiddler's last action and it doesn't make sense. There are no trees on the map, only dense underbrush.

I also never said how high the Fiddler went up. That's a very important detail, and it was my mistake, so in the interest of fairness and moving things along, let's say that he only went up 5', which makes him within reach of Tibard for a melee attack.

Also, contrary to my most recent initiative block, we are actually at the end of Round 2. That fact is updated in the initiative block below.[/sblock]

Tibard emerges from the cloud, coughing and hacking. He can instantly see clearly, and immediately above his head, the Fiddler is hovering in the air to his left. Farther in the distance about 35' away, the Dancer is hovering just above the dense undergrowth along the path.

With his mace drawn, Tibard takes a swipe at the malicious creature, fiddling in his face, and...

Tibard, feel free to relay what you see, and make an attack roll please?
