ooc: quick format question. if i'm acting alone, do you want me to keep my actions hidden, or should i post regularly? and should we use the other thread for these questions, or keep them here? /ooc

OOC :Go ahead and post in the open, even If they can't See you. Unless you want to keep it a secret from the others but post questions in the other thread.

The alcove is narrow, only 4x10 and can be seen from the Hall after Tote pulls aside the wall hanging - there are about 10 people in the calm group, before it is split up not including Ralan, Sparrow and Tote.

Tote will patiently hold it open, shout to direct anyone else nearby towards it, and hit anyone carrying a weapon who runs at it (or out of it for that matter).

Taimon, already suspicious of the fleeing figure, becomes even more so as he sees where he has retreated to. Resisting the impestuous instinct to leap down and immediately confront the stranger, he examines the opening more carefully, hoping to find a ladder or rope of some sort. If not, he will pull out his own length of silk rope, find the nearest anchor to tie it to, and quietly slip down into the sewer.

[ooc: if there is an easy way down, say a ladder, than i assume that i would have gotten down before tote et al come behind me. if not, then i assume they will approach as i'm pulling out my rope. let me know which, and i will react accordingly. /ooc]

Ralan begins pushing his way towards the stage, but half the crowd is pushing in that direction, once he gets to the edge of the clamer people listening to Ozan – he only gets 10 ft, and Sparrow who was having trouble moving through the crowd on her own, falls in directly behind him

Ralan will keep pushing on to the stage to see if there are any clues where the philisopher vanished. If he doesn't see anything, he will move to the alcove where he saw the elf leave.

Sparrow flanks Ralan, in a bodyguard type position, trying to keep an eye on the crowd and the fire.

If the fire starts spreading too fast, Sparrow will lean over to speak softly in Ralan's ear: "We need to leave now, Ralan," and gesture towards the alcove.

Thaimon ties the rope around the guard robe and slides down, a second person tries to follow him and falls plunging into the sludge. A third climbs carefully onto the rope.
There are still 2 strangers in the alcove, one a dwarf.
Ralan pushes though the crowd by main strength – and get close to the stage, only to witness more horrible sights, the two exits were apparently blocked, one has been forced open, and a trickle of people are escaping to the clean air outside. Sparrow you are unable to make any headway and are caught in the panicked crowd. You have to yell to Ralan make sure your heard, Smoke now fills the hall, Sparrow and Tote are unable to do anything but cough. Ralan and Thiamon have better air, for the moment, Ozan seems to be holding his breath.
Ralan – the single exit looks a lot easier to get to than the alcove.

You can hear a woman screaming “WE ARE GOING TO DIE!” *cough* cough*

Tote will hold the curtain open as long as he is able. If he starts to get visions of the afterlife he will retreat into the alcove to get a breath then go out and hold the curtain open again, if he can.

Thaimon is startled by the falling figure, and wonders if perhaps the fire might be worse than he thought. Why exit into the sewers when their are a number of exits out of the lecture hall above ground? He looks back up to see if any more people will be falling on top of him, and in a whisper urges anyone at the top to be careful.

He carefully checks in all directions, paying special attention to the source of the light he noticed earlier. Assuming he's not in immediate danger, he will check to make sure the fallen figure is not gravely wounded, and help him out of the way. But he wants to act quickly, lest whomever he followed down here gets away.


[ooc: evil halfling: i know it's a typo, but my character's name is thaimon. also, just so everyone knows, i had no idea when i immediately chased after the guy into the alcove, that the fire would be so serious. thaimon will regret that he did not stay to help if people end up getting hurt. /ooc]

"We need to get out of here" says Ozan to those present, nearly giving up on saving everyone, but still decided to rescue as many as he can. "And the only way is the sewer." *cough* "Down there, be careful, we´re sending people!"

Ozan starts directing those still with him to descend the hole using the rope.

Seing that the situation is grim, Ralan will take a couple of deep breaths of the clean air he can get, hold his breath, grab Sparrow by the wrist and head to the exit. As he is moving to the exit, he scans the crowd for Ozan [OCC: Can he see him?].
