The Closed Eye (DM: Halford, Judge: garyh)

. o O (Playful giggling echoes in Woe’s ears. She’s teasing him, putting on a show. He still couldn’t remember her name.

Not the lewdest elf broad he’d met, but close. Her corset goes flying through the bedroom. An even better view than the already scant outfit she wears when serving drinks at Myrod’s Taphouse.

Woe pulls the sheets aside to expose her full beauty… and finds her pointing a bow at his heart.

“Die heathen! The Clan commands it!” she shouts and hisses with a serpentine tongue.

Woe groggily opens his eyes to see Tander standing above him with blood trickling all over his robes. Out of the corner of his eye he catches sight of Palindrome’s frame collapsing behind the wall as the mage’s rant is abruptly silenced by another arrow. Finally, Woe looks down to see two arrows sticking out of his chest and a javelin nailed in the left side of his abdomen.

“ … So it’s one of those days.”

The warrior closes his eyes and groans in pain. With a quick yank he pulls the javelin out of his side and flings it casually away.

“You pointy-eared pricks are going to learn breathing through your foreheads!” Woe hears two dull thuds in the distance and opens his eyes. Half his foes suddenly lie dead. “... Uh… I guess it worked!”

All too stubborn for his own good, he pulls himself from the ground, shaking off the worst of the throbbing pain.

“Thanks Tander. Better get to cover or stay behind me now before anymore toothpicks come flying this way.”

With grim determination, he rushes the nearby goblin to plant his spear in unprotected flesh.

“Here, gob-job, I think you dropped this! Oh wait - that's mine, and it's bigger!”

Tander tries to focus despite his injuries. He swoons briefly, and his mind is filled with images of the girl of his dream.

[sblock=In Tander's Head]
The girl is on an altar - she can't be more than nine years old. There are men on all sides of the altar, their faces inscrutable in the darkness. Only sparse candlelight illuminates the scene - the girl's eyes are wide with terror. Tander watches from a distance.

A knife emerges from one of the men's robes, and the girl screams. Just as the knife is about to be plunged into the girl, everyone in the scene stops and turns to face Tander, as if waiting.

The girl speaks, and her voice sounds like a thousand waterfalls crashing.

"Will you watch them die, Tander? Will you watch them die too?"

Tander let's out a scream, at first filled with fear, then turning to anger and outrage. He turns to face the nearest enemy, and flares out his hands. His usual white energy does not appear - instead, an inky black cloud appears. Shocked, Tander tries to regain his composure. He heads for the cover of the bushes, hoping to help Palindrome at his next opportunity.

OOC: Sacred Flame hits Reflex 11 for 7 damage. In the unlikely event that that hits, Woe gains 3 tmp hp. Move to AE-12.
 

Round 4, continued

Woe pulls various pointy objects out of his body, stands, and steadies himself before charging the last goblin, inflicting a deep cut with his spear. (ooc: Woe heals 7 and gains +2 to defenses. Charge hits, 7 damage)

Palindrome regains consciousness only long enough to torment Neera, before slipping further towards oblivion.

Round 5

Tander's prayer fizzles. Shocked, he moves towards the sound of Neera's voice.

The remaining archer backs away from the bushes that keep spouting sharp rocks. He fires an arrow into the bushes toward the last place Atreus was seen, and is rewarded with a cry of pain as the arrow strikes home. (ooc: hit despite -5 from total concealment. 7 damage.)

Atreus looks at the arrow buried in his skin. He exchanges looks with Tander and is clearly annoyed by the arrow in his body. He whispers to Tander while silently pulling the arrow out with a low cry of pain " I hate elves ".
Now, he is not sure of what the best course of action is but decides to take care of the goblin before going after the elf. He loads his sling and fires at the goblin with incredible force and hitting the goblin right in the groin.

With an overconfident smirk, Woe points a finger accusingly at the goblin he’s just stabbed and utters a tsk-tsk.

“You do realize you’re dead, right? The mere proximity to my manly presence is already starting to degrade your spinal cord.”

Something whisks past him and strikes the goblin right where his finger is pointing, dealing a killing blow.

“There it goes again! My latent magic potential is finally blooming!”

Woe turns to the last surviving enemy and waves enthusiastically from far off, before setting into a sprint that brings him almost within reach to strike.

“Hey! Hey leaf-lover! You’ll never guess what my finger can do! Don’t worry, I’ll show you its ultimate powers!”

[sblock=Actions]Woe uses his Move and Standard Action to run to X7 and his Minor Action to unsettle the elf with suggestive use of his finger.

How about… Move: Stand up. Free: Rant (letting allies know he’s alive). Standard: Run along wall towards action (following Woe’s voice).[/sblock]

Round 5, continued

Atreus hurls another perfect sling bullet into the last goblin's forehead, sending it crashing dead to the ground.

Woe mocks the dying goblin, then sprints after the retreating archer, yet somehow still retains the breath to taunt him. (ooc: double run, Woe grants CA tsnt)

Neera gives up on pulling arrows out of Palindrome, and instead proceeds to kick and punch him repeatedly. Strangely, this seems to shake the wizard out of his deathward journey. His bleeding slows, and he opens his eyes. And his mouth, to the relief of his comrades on the other side of the wall, who are ironically much cheered by the resulting string of profanities. Palindrome stands and moves eastward, beckoning Neera to follow him. (ooc: KenHood, since you're back you can change this action if you like and I'll retcon as needed.)

Round 6

Tander follows Woe towards the last foe. (ooc: X-1 is 11 squares; are you running? I assume not or you'd go farther east; I've put you at X-2. Please correct me if I've got that wrong.)

The archer doesn't react to Woe's gesture... or does he? He continues his retreat, firing another arrow into Woe as he backs away. (ooc: hit, 13 damage. Woe is bloodied again.)

What does 'tsnt' mean?

However, Palindrome is going to tell short-stuff to sprint around the wall and head off any runners.
