The Closed Eye (DM: Halford, Judge: garyh)

Round 3, continued

Woe misses the gravehound while it chews on Tander's neck.

Atreus and Woe deftly flank the orc, both hitting it. (Woe's mark on the gravehound expires)

The orc, near death, hews at Woe, but his massive blow goes wide again. (miss)

"Hey, snake lady, that dress does indeed make your butt look fat."

"And Arnest, your grandmama so ugly..."

"Uh..."

"I got nothing. She's ugly."

"And you've inherited her looks."

"FWOOSH!"
says Palindrome, hurling fire at the pair.

"Did I mention that I tortured that elf you had upstairs? Look! Here's a toe!"

OOC: Minor Action -- remove toe from pocket.

"You should kill me! I'm a terrible person! Take your revenge!"

Tander continues renewing his allies, despite his own considerable pain.

[sblock=In Tander's Head]
YOU SAVE THEM WHEN YOU COULD SAVE YOURSELF?

Yes.

WHY?

Because... because without them our group will fall.

TRUE, TRUE. BUT THAT ISN'T THE REAL REASON. THINK, TANDER.

While Tander's memory has not fully recovered, he knows he has done something terrible. Something beyond redemption.

Because... their lives are worth more than mine.

[/sblock]

Tander looks at the palm of his right hand and observes in wonder as one of the dark lines there fades away and disappears.

OOC: Take five necrotic damage. Healing word on Atreus heals surge value + 1d6 + 9 - no roll necessary that brings him to full. Tander makes both saves - woot!

Round 3, continued

Palindrome continues to taunt his foes, while bathing them in flame.

Round 4

Tander heals Atreus, and shakes off his lingering disorientation.

Arnest puts a hand to the snake lady. "My lady! You are hurt? I will destroy these heretics for you!"

The priestess shakes off his hand. "We must flee, my friend. These fools cannot be allowed to keep us from stopping their master."

Arnest, shaking with rage and frustration, looses a blast of magic at Palindrome, that goes whistling harmlessly past the wizard's ear. He then unlatches the gate and darts into the dark tunnel. (miss)

The gravehound continues to chew on Tander, this time finding the thick vein in his neck. Tander feels faint, and the familiar chill steals towards his heart. (another crit. :eek: 9 damage, and 5 ongoing necrotic (save ends). Tander is bloodied. Hey, just be glad the orc isn't having dice like that.)

The priestess turns her eyes on Palindrome as well. Her luck is better, and Palindrome cannot avoid a blast of brilliant light that dazzles him. "You fools will never triumph," she hisses. "He has deluded you, and you will all perish for it." She turns and lopes after Arnest at a run. (hit, 10 damage and Palindrome is dazed (save ends), and bloodied. Oh, and she recharges illusory terrain, since I keep forgetting to roll that.)

(Arnest and the priestess have both run south into the tunnel. It is dark there, and they are beyond the light radius of all light sources in play at the moment.)

“Quite a tongue you got there, sssugar!” Woe flicks his own (un-forked) tongue at her and imitates her hissing.

Eye bet you can do all sorts of tricks with it! Stay around and let’s find out together!” he fantasizes out loud.

[sblock=OOC: Hey, DM...]Does scintillating bolt target Reflex? If so, I'll turn on the Shield spell.[/sblock]

"No! They can't get away! Somebody pop a crossbow bolt or arrow or stone or spear into that tart! She's almost down for the count!"

"Interesting" is all Atreus can muster to say when he hears Arnest's and the snake woman's nonesense.
Without caring what these cultists said to him, he attacks the Orc and plunges his dagger into it's spleen, spraying blood everywhere.
" Woe, let's go get the two turtle doves " he glances back to Tander and Palindrome " Can you to handle the hound ? " and with his question awaits their answer before deciding what he should do next.

[sblock=OOC and Tactics]
Wow, thanks Tander for the healing. Cleric's rock. Well, it's not like I want to leave anyone behind, but we must stop arnest and the snake lady before they get too far. I recomend that Atreus and Woe run after the pair to stop them. Or that Palindrome and Woe go after the two and Atreus stay's and kills the doggie with Tander, what do you say?
[/sblock]

[sblock=Getting our tactics on]
Hmmm... the only thing I'm sure about is Tander is staying put. :) Palindrome and Woe both get to act before snake-lady and arnest, so one or both of them are good candidates for making chase...

[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC: Tactics]Palindrome's dazed, so his mobility is limited right now. I can have him run for it (and probably will) but he won't be able to attack if he gets line of sight. I'm betting that snake lady only has a couple of hit points left. If Woe could get a spear into her, she's down.[/sblock]
