The Closed Eye, part II (DM: covaithe, Judge: garyh)

Kathalia the wolf continues to prowl around, a little more silent than before, although more because she is distracted and concentrating than through any attempt at secrecy (OOC: Stealth 13 Perception 15 (I meant to roll nature not perception - unlikely to matter since they both get the same bonus))

[sblock=We're on a roll!]Naturally, the nat 20s rolled by Ken and I more than cancel out any consequences for the previous nat 1s, right? Right? :D[/sblock]

Woe thinks about meat -- mmm, tasty! -- and finds that his nose leads him on a slightly more northerly course, into a dense thicket. He follows it, somehow avoiding the rustling leaves completely. It's almost as if he were a ghost himself.

Atreus quickly climbs a tree and looks around, taking care not to expose himself to view. He foothills undulate all around, gentler to the south and steeper to the north, leading toward the tall cliffs that stand on the north side of Daunton's harbor. He sees a bird fly into a small cave opening on one of the cliffs, some distance away. Perhaps there are other caves in these hills, some of them nearer? If so, the entrances are likely to be found along the sides of these hills. Such as that one just to the north. Or perhaps the next one to the west.

Kathalia follows Atreus' pointing finger and sees... a squirrel! Which promptly bolts westward, zig-zagging between trees. She growls and leaps after it for a moment before remembering herself and letting it go. She watches as it scurries towards the western hill and disappears into a crack beneath a large boulder.

Hacker keeps low to the ground and hugs the shadows with ease as his eyes roam the hillside. He spots a slight discoloration of the grass in one open patch, which on closer inspection looks like something large was dragged through there recently, heading northwest up the hillside.

[sblock=status]7 success, 2 failure. Everyone up.

Hacker reviews his considerable history in corpse transportation. The places he took them -- certain isolated pools in Daunton's sewer system, for instance, or sealed barrels surreptitiously placed at the back of wagons bound for the customs warehouse; once even on stage at the opera itself, dressed in full horned helmet and comically enhanced golden breastplate -- seem not terribly applicable here. He does recall that the best way to transport multiple corpses, if it can possibly be arranged, is with a Tenser's floating disk ritual or the like, which not only saves all that tedious lifting and dragging, but also greatly reduces signs of passage. Corpses moved that way are more likely to leave signs a foot or two above the ground on things they bump into, like rocks and trees. Just as Hacker thinks this, he trips over a rock himself, not quite stifling a curse.

ooc: +2 to next nature or perception.

[sblock=Almost there!]Rather than risk jinxing everything now, I'm just waiting for Kathalia to deliver the deathblow with her awesome Perception and Nature checks!

Woe thinks about meat -- mmm, tasty! -- and finds that his nose leads him on a slightly more northerly course, into a dense thicket.
Heh, I was actually thinking forensics with that heal check, but barbecue works too. :D[/sblock]

Kathalia takes several quick leaps in the air, jumping from bush to bush, smelling and rollicking and occasionally snarling. This would be almost cute if her chosen form were a dog or puppy, rather than the hideous wolf form she is currently employing.

Indeed it looks as if she could happily stay in wolf form forever, communing with nature and hunting rabbits. Or something.

(Stealth 12, Nature 29 with +2 bonus)
