Usually when a new book comes out everyone (or most everyone) wants to get the new "toy" on the block, 6 months later there is a new "toy" to get and people are forgetting about the "toy" that came out 6 months (or so) before. It happens all the time. Patience is a virtue...and it can save you money. :)
A virtue I am sorely missing when it comes to RPG books/stuff. I usually buy through amazon.com or my FLGS (20% off everything) so I never pay full price. I do agree about the ebay thing, tho. I just picked up the Farscape game and a Star Wars WotC book for considerably less than what it was when it came out.

No.

I don't buy 3.5 stuff, won't start now. At least I am saving a few grand a year now. I'll consider 4.0 stuff after I see it in a couple years.

How do you know everything that's in the book?

Even if what you say is true, by your rationale, I saw most of the Two Towers Extended when I saw the theatrical version, so I shouldn't waste my money on it.

No, I don't know everything in the book, I will grant you.

OTOH what is likely to be in there that I have no need for?

More prestige classes. Revisions of PrCs from 3.0 to 3.5. More rather silly weapons. Magical weapons and armour converted from 3.0 to 3.5. Some notes on tactics. More mediocre art.

No need for any of those, especially since, as I pointed out, I have not converted to 3.5 nor does it seem likely that I shall do so in the future.

At to TTEE, I am getting a more complete vision of the film that I already enjoyed; with The Complete Warrior I will get more of what I do not wish, need, or desire. That's my split.

I'll probably get it, just because I get practically everything. If nothing else, I'm hoping the swashbuckler and hexblade are well done. The light fighter and fighting mage are two common character types that just haven't been handled all that well so far, at least as core classes.

Monte beat them to publication with his AU's unfettered and mage blade which do a decent job.

I'll be buying it simply because I'll probably need it for Living Greyhawk. We don't use 3.5 in our home game, so it wouldn't do a lot of good. I suppose I could as for it for Xmas. I have no great desire to fork over the cash really.

Since my FLGS changed its hours so it's never open when I can go, I've discovered I can have it now and cheap with Walmart.com. For stuff they don't carry FRPgames has nice discounts.

Some of the stuff sounds neat, but I seriously doubt I'll buy it. I'm trying to save money, so unless it's REALLY good I'm not buying. Plus, I've been boycotting WotC since the release of 3.5e

Can you give a few examples, Matt?

Cheers!

Well, I can try.

Forsaker? Arrggghhh!!! Poorly designed in so many ways. Weak, doesn't fit into the party, must smash magic items (when he can only tell for about 1/3rd of them) to get DR... stupid PrC.

A less hysterical example would be some of the stuff in Tome and Blood. Which PrC gave you "spin"? It gave up four caster levels so it's pretty weak. Unfortunately, "spin" gave save DC bonuses, and the "penalty" was hard to control.

To use it, if I felt like making the effort, I'd have to remove the DC bonus, give back 2 or 3 caster levels, and remove the spin penalty, since I'll either be too heavy-handed in using it, or not use it for something important (if at all).

Ya I just saw that this last weekend and couldn't believe the price.....do you know if they are showing the Complete Warrior as Available (I wouldn't want to wait 3 to 5 weeks for them to ship it), Otherwise I will just probably order it from Amazon......
