Waiting on reviews, but will probably make this one a designated christmas gift.

Sometimes I wish I could get my family to just give me gift certificates.

I looked CW over today and it's decent, but I feel slightly cheated by so much repeat material, even if it's updated. There is not much detail given to warrior oriented campaigns, fighting contests, or warfare. This is a big disappointment to me, but the detail that is there is good---it's just not enough for me. The new and revised base classes and PrCs aren't terribly interesting (hexblade is kinda cool as a base antipaladin/spellsword type), though there are (sucko) non-spellcasting variants of the paladin and ranger provided to tie in with the no/low magic warrior campaign info in the back. I was really happy to see WoTC address the issue of a no/low magic setting for once! IMO, CW is way better than S&F, but not as cool as (the first half of) MHB. It should have had a higher page count to really flesh things out in greater detail, provide more feats, etc. I mean, it's almost as much as the core rulebooks, and it's only half the page count! This book is a decent buy, but probably not essential. I am looking forward to more books in this series, however. YMMV.

It's probably the WotC D&D book I have been the least excited about since the Hero Builder's Guide.

I mean, PrC? I have enough already, and I'm past the point where I tend to ignores most of them anyway, relying on custom-made world-specific PrC.

Combat feats? Likewise, I have more than the whole gaming group will probably ever use. I mean, it's fun to get new material that will never be used, but whatever.

Rule clarifications? I've pretty much understood everything fine enough. And besides, I tend to house-rule stuff.

Tactical and strategical advices? Man, I get that already just from browsing forums like this one.

Powergaming and optimization tips? Honestly, I've no use for it. I give precedence to the interest of the concept. And everybody has strong enough powergaming instincts anyway.

Pretty pictures? Well... I doubt it muchly. With the exception of the prestigious Draconomicon, art quality has declined in WotC products; especially for rule stuff like this.
