The Cookie-Cutter Character Challenge

Well, if the many examples of bland characters in the PHB aren't enough for you...

Toegar the Fighter
Str: 15
Dex: 14
Con: 13
Int: 12
Wis: 10
Cha: 8
(Default stat array)
Feats: Weapon focus - longsword , Power Attack
Equipment: longsword, plate armor, backpack, 50 feet of rope, 10 foot pole

Toegar was a simple farmboy until his entire family, whole village, surrounding countryside, all livestock and pet hamster were slaughtered by orcs. Vowing revenge, he took up his father's longsword (used to bumbling effect by his father in defense of family, village, countryside, livestock and hamster, and subsequently used in the decapitation of family, livestock and hamster by orcs) and began a life of camping in the countryside with virtual strangers with whom he commits mass slaughter of random dungeon inhabitants for the purpose amassing treasure to support his habits of drinking, whoring and obtaining ever-more powerful weapons and armor.

If I by any means can declare a winner it must be Zappo's Bob. Bob is duller than a bowling pin used for slicing onions. It's my guess that Zappo's Bob has been written up thousands of times and that copies of his record sheet can be found in school bags, books, bookcases, and under beds just about everywhere. Even Antarctica.

I'd like to mention John Erikson because his backstory made me laugh. However, that won't help in the competition.

Lefty is a sad sad character. His destiny is to prepare himself and be eaten by orcs.

I guess this is not so bland but its damn useful/stereotypical;

Human Cleric 1
Strength/War domains
Extra Turning
kit out in armour and morninstar
14 Str, 10 Dex, 12 Con, 14 Wis, 8 Int, 14 Cha

Can turn, hit, cast miracle at level 20, survive a little, and builds up into a nice fighting mass of doom.

I agree, and therefore present Ironbeard Stoneaxe This dwarven fighter is the last surviving member of his clan, which was wiped out by orcs.

Nice story for that:
As we were discussing a one-shot yesterday (it's for showing RPG to someone), I was mentioning the "dwarf who had his whole clan wiped out" and another player said: "ah, yes, those dangerous land-slides". :D

Soveliss Brightleaf - elven Sorcerer
str 13 dx 14 con 13 int 13 wis 13 chr 13
Detect magic, Light, Mage Hand, Ray of Frost
Magic missle, mage armor
Feat: Combat Casting
Skills: Spellcraft 5, Concentration 5, KN Arcane 5

Family killed by Orcs/Drow out for revenge. ie he makes some comment about it when he sees them (maybe) but takes no self-motivated actions against them. He is content to kill things and take there stuff, mutly following behind characters that have internal motivations or intrest in the plot.

Ah, I was going to post that exactly one. Only that he´s Harry, the potter (has 4 ranks in craft: pottery instead of knowledge: arcana)

Background: He was bored and decided to explore a dungeon with people he´s just meet in a tavern.

I present Lia Nightwhisper, the female elf archer who comes from the magical elven island of Evermoon with its crystal cities and enchanted forests. As an elf, she's the epitome of good and is far more wise, beautiful, enlightened, and skilled than any nonelf could ever hope to be. Later on she'll fall in love with a human male, and there will be much angsting over how she'll stay young and beautiful while her lover grows old and dies.

Her adventuring career begins when she is sitting in a tavern and arbitrarily decides to go adventuring with a few strangers she just met.

He has been twice bereaved. There's little left but to make a horrible dinner.

I wondered when you'd show up.

And your elf-hating really leaves something to be desired. You almost sound like a normal, well-balanced person :p

Take a chill pill, KY. Just because I post an example of a cliche elven character (which, just like the dwarf cliche you posted earlier, is one I've seen many times over the years both in PC and NPC form) dosen't mean that you have to get snide.
