The Cost Of D20 Merchandize

As an open dome gamer of many years, have any of you noticed that the creativity and vision of the publishers of these arts has degraded over time. What we need is new blood and a new Vision for the gaming fraternity. I don't care about fancy covers, pansy websites and nonchelance. I believe in gaming - open dome gaming.

Open Dome Gaming? The quality of products has improved greatly over the past 5 years. And has so greatly increased from 15-20 years ago, that I find it hard to read those books anymore.

By the way, welcome to the boards. Hope you'll stay around and discuss this. :D

You mean "new blood" like the roughly 1000 new products that have came out since the release of 3rd edition, most of them from new companies and new designers?

I'd have to say that even the worst of the d20 stuff is still better than a lot of the stuff that was put out during the dying years of 2nd edition. YMMV, of course.

I am going to have to concur with Meepo and Crothian. I really liked 2e also. I mean some of those things can never be replaced. Such as the first time I played in Dragonlance, and Ravenloft. I wish I could find some of the adventures( or update them myslef if I had time). And a lot of that art was phenominal, Elmore Easley I still get goose bumps when I look at them. Anyway I believe that since 3e, wizards buying out TSR, that the gaming world has only improved. And the amount of resources on the web is also a big help with "vision". Again welcome to the boards.

So do you leave the dome open when it rains? :D

I can't believe you people fell for that troll.

Who fell for it? I asked him to stay around and discuss it, which trolls don't do. So, my serious post to this and trying to recover a real discussion more then likely lead to the serious posts of the others. Just becasue we have trolls (and he's posting another trollish topic), doesn';t mean we should feed them.

Open huh?

I'd like to have an opinion on this also. Unfortunately, I have no idea what "open dome gaming" is. Little help here?

I am just saying that I feel that there is very litttle originality in the majority of modern D&D publications. I mean, check out gygax's early stuff.

However, it is nice to see the real enthusiasts attempting to publish original work. "The Complete Guide to Drow" is just great - a fresh innovative work on aold and overlooked subject. Well done Morrus!

Do you mean D&D or d20? If you mean D&D, then you're talking about Wizards of the Coast. If you mean d20, that means dozens of publishers. Can you give examples of what isn't very original?

And what is open dome gaming?
