The Crux of the Matter

OOC: Lex should be able to cast 2 D-Doors if need be at 7th level :)

Vanitri approaches Ashna, Lex, and Rayne and whispers to them "Do we take Guile with?"

"Unless she can't leave the tower, I see no reason to leave her behind. She'll slow us down a bit, but maybe we can help her in some way."

(So, the plan is that one of the casters rushes down, protected as much as able, to cast a wall effect so we have a "safe zone" outside the safe zone from where we can DD to the door, then rush out of the door, Rayne teleports whom she can, and the rest DDs further away again, meet up at the village? What wall effects can we use? I can change Ashna's 4th level spell evocation spell to wall of ice before submitting for approval, but do we have others? If Rayne teleports some of us away, should Laynie stay with the people who DD again, for added security?)

(And here I was hoping to get someone else into the line of fire. :p
Protective plan was Protection from Energy, actually. Tenebrynn mentioned having two, Ashna has one, perhaps there are more, maybe a mage armor for good measure...)

(ooc: now the question is how do we determine what energy to protect against without alerting Sin who is watching all this and most likely has incredibly high spellcraft)

(If we can get two more, that's a moot point, but assuming we don't, we could try to refer to older adventures, and/or we could try to determine whether there is a blind spot for Sin (unlikely unless we learn who/how she is scrying) and utilize it.
Anyway, it seems wall of ice is our best bet (the aspects are certainly prepared for fire anyway), so I'll change my sheet and mail the judges.)

OOC: If someone can Cats Grace and Resistance Vanitri, a +16 ref save with Evasion gives him a fighting chance against most area attack spells.

(OOC: Ready to go then? Elektra didn't pick Prot Energy as one of her level 3 spells, and Rayne knows it, but she suffers from the fact that this is still the same day for her, and she used all her buffs to prebuff herself for that standoff against Sin, which is the main reason she even survived it)

(Not really, but I don't think I have much of a choice in the matter. :p No one really proposed a different flight plan (Vanitri's idea might help as a distraction, but if an area attack hits him, it'll probably be big enough to include any casters). I suspect then that we cannot find a blind spot, so I'll have to codename the energies that Tenebrynn should cast (if it helps). I hope he can tell what energies 'Nurlan' and 'Hogarth' refer to (unless he has better ideas what to protect against). Ashna herself casts protection from electricity then, I guess.
Ashna's prepared spells should now be amended to include two DDs and a wall of ice, and I think another 1st level spell, but I'm not sure if that'll be of consequence.)

(OOC: Sounds good to me. Hogarth is Acid. Nurlan is Fire? Cold? I don't really know anything about Nurlan)

*Her protections ready, Ashna strides down the stairs ahead of the rest in order to cut off Line of Effect with a Wall of Ice. In order to have line of effect to the spot for the Wall of Ice to be placed in a relevant spot (that is, beyond the edge of the safe area), Ashna will need to expose herself to Sin and friends as well. As she rounds the corner, she sees that some of Sin's Wraiths are standing quite close to the edge of the Crux's emanations. This is not good as far as placement goes, since if she places it farther out, some of the bad guys, including Sin herself, will be on the PCs' side of the wall, thus making it useless, if she places it closer in, it will be in the safe zone, thus boxing the PCs in and hindering them more than helping, and if she places it right on top of the Wraiths it automatically fails (if adjacent, they can make a Reflex save to screw it up too). Ashna gets the feeling that she did not win initiative, but the enemies seem content to let her make the first move.*

(OOC: Ashna's turn)
