The current "Real Deal" on Castle Zagyg by G. Gygax

Good! In a world of magic, and in the domain of such a powerful mage, ecology isn't that hard, but I do like the added sense of "reality" when such things are incorporated into the design, magically or mundane.

I would think this is pretty much just as good for your LA system as it is for C&C, or d20 for that matter.

Anyway, I remember eagerly awaiting the publication of "your" Castle since 1986 when I heard about it, and then someone wiser than I explained to me how the possibility of it being published went down the tubes. :(

So I'm biased enough to say, "I don't care about anything else, this is what needs to be published!"

Even if C&C wasn't its game system.

Face it, this is "the castle" by "the man" himself! So those of us who have had a nagging "wish" in the back of their heads for 20+ years for this Castle to have been published, well, its incredible!

Yggsburgh has only added to the anticipation!

Well Pilgrims...

The way I see it, the castle is meaningful only when played with a class and level based system, so that progression more or less follows levels of PCs and levels of the dungeon. As AD&D was closed to all further design, I was not going to attempt a recreation of the castle and dungeons, but when WotC produced the OGL things changed. I would have preferred the OAD&D game system, but C&C is the next best thing IMO.

Cheers,
Gary

I guess it would be hard to do a character level comparison to LA, but I think their are enough key attributes that would help run an LA game in the Castle.

I am not about to argue about your thoughts on C&C.

In short, the D&D game play was intense, and more than half of it was subterranean delving.

I just had to quote this line, because it's the kind of statement that makes us old-schoolers salivate . . . and lament the current state of our lives. :(

I just envisioned a tear of joy trickling down Diago's cheek. :)

But then I noticed the 'A' in that acronym. I guess it was a tear of sadness.

Thanks for the updates, Col.!
