The Dance of Souls

(OOC - for the game of darts, you can roll for yourself or use an online die roller :))
Janur shakes Beamer's hand and continues.
"It is rather busy today, yes." Janur takes aim, but only hits the wall. "Ugh. That was bad. Anyway, you've seen what the priest did, didn't you? And then there's officer Samuel, of the city watch. These two are the reason it is more lifely today. And the possibility that officer Garum shows up."
He is waiting for Beamer to throw his dart.

"Actually, I only caught the tail end. Why was the priest so hot under the collar? Why to more people come by when the priest and officers are here? Do they come here often?"

(Not quite sure myself, but I'd put it at outer section 8, outer ring 10, inner section 12, inner ring 16, bullseye 20 - so you scored a bullseye)

"Well, there isn't much more to the scene with the cleric. Damn, that's the wall again. Anyway, Kenatur, Ken, has a lot of debts, and the scimitar has been close to be sold a number of times. Officer Garum, shortly after ...he, it, whatever came to the city and became a city watch member, drew up some agreement between the city and Ken. Don't ask me how Garum gained such knowledge out there where he lived, but oh well.
The agreement was - members of the city watch, the priesthood, and certain city officials can eat for free, and if satisfied, give out a stamp into that book. For each page filled this way, some of Ken's debts are waived. And many play the game of Taka, stealing his hopes whenever they eat. Some actually give out the stamps. Never the priests, though. Garum sometimes says "two stamps".
When more than one person with a stamp is here, people tend to flock here just for the spectacle, seeing how many stamps Ken might get. They even bet on it. Oh, sorry, it's your turn."
Janur hurries to remove the dart from the wall before Beamer throws his.

Janur lets out a sigh of relief as he hits the inner ring, and continues
"Ah, good, I almost feared I lost my throwing arm...
Officer Garum? Can't really call him a person, but yes, he's new here, a few years since he stepped out of the woods. Had quite a career in the city watch, sniffing out criminals like a dog... not that that's surprising.
But newcomers in general in the city are rare. Many would rather leave. If it weren't for my own debts, and the Scimitar, I'd be gone in a heartbeat. Putting in as many spare coppers as possible to help the Scimitar survive. I wish I had the luck to be chosen by some noble as a servant. Newcomers, now that I think of it, some time ago, a few guys with a cart made for narrow passages were in town. Looked vaguely familiar, but I haven't seen them since."

"Wow, that's damn good." Janur stares at Beamer's dart for a few seconds, before throwing his own dart, hitting the outer ring.
"Narrow? A few streets are, no one really cared about how broad the streets should be when new houses were built, and the like. I'd actually say it'd be useful for narrow mountain passes, but this's not quite the right place for such carts. Might've been headed for the Stonespikes if it really was for mountains.
Well, you've beaten me fair and square. I should know better than taking on a halfling at a throwing match. Your next two drinks are on my, anyway." Janur says with a smile.

"Well, thanks for the game. My papa taught me to play. Boy, if he were here he'd put on a show. Usually we play with a halfling sized board. Its about the size of this coaster."

Beamer nods over toward Tennar, "The redheaded gentleman over there seems to be enjoying himself. Is he celebrating something?"

Azatoth walks over to the table at which Tennar.

Excuse me, Sorry to be bothering you, but perhaps we might talk after you finish this current hand. I am interested in art and was told by the innkeep over there that you own your own auction house.
