The Dance of Souls

The barkeeper laughs hearing Gur's speech
"Don't worry, good sir, I will not charge ale prices for water - you'll just have to deal with a 2 copper price for that mug. So, private rooms it is. Here are the keys," he fishes out a few from below the bar, and hands them out as he moves another piece on that 10 x 10 board. "Not a bad game, Janur, you can capture my patriarch in a few turns. Will give you enough points to win, even."

(Xaov, you are 6 people, not 5.)

"Oh, I didn't realize we would each have our own room. We could probably double or triple up. Certainly us shorter folk don't need a human sized room all to ourselves." Beamer ever so briefly glances at Rose Marie.

"Well, perhaps we should head upstairs for a quick chat."

OOC:
If anyone does not want to go upstairs, that's fine. Beamer wants to talk about our strategy for finding Turlach and Deleth.

Once they get up to the rooms (if they get up to the rooms):
Beamer starts by saying, "Our story appears to be that we are merchants. Since we have very little goods, that means we must be here to buy something. Does anyone know what a merchant would buy here?

"We could ask around about Turlach and Deleth by name until they are suspicious and come to find out who is asking about them. They might just leave town though, but we could find them first. We could claim to be looking for someone to do a job for us. We could claim to be buyers of art, though we do not look like we could afford expensive magical art pieces. What ideas do you have, mates?"

Well I think given the factors. We should decide if we room together or not. I personally don't mind. But I can not speak for everyone else

*Azaroth turns back to the barkeep*

OOC: Depending on what everyone says, I say one of the two following responses

if the group decides to room together:
Excuse me sir it just occured to me. Our group does not need each room for ourselves. Would it be a problem to give our money back and give the keys back and in turn get only two rooms?

(a): If the innkeep says yes then proceed to exchange keys and money.
(b): If the innkeep says no then say alright and pay for the last room.

if the group decides to stay in separate rooms, then Azatoth will pay for the one room not accounted for.

Once this is out of the way.

I think that we should watch it with asking about those two. I am sure that they figured out that their former employers had sent someone by now. If we ask too many questions then we risk scaring our targets out of town. So we should do our best to maintain the illusion, and therefore not ask too many questions. But we cannot simply sit here quietly. So we must come up with a plan.

My thoughts are this. Let us find out where most auctions take place. and see if there is a listing. If there is an auction for high art then we will make a further plan to investigate it. We will make a plan from there.

"I am sorry, good sirs, but neither of the rooms can comfortably hold more than one person. The rooms for humans would have to be renovated, and the rooms for small folk are laid out for small folk. It has been problematic enough for me before I found out how common small folk are in these lands." The barkeeper says the last sentence with a laugh.

Those of you who go upstairs find that to be true - while you all can get into one of the larger rooms to plan your next steps, it is a bit cramped with more than two people in the room. Spending the whole night in those rooms with more than one person would be uncomfortable.

Banion will continue to hang in the background, stepping forward only slightly to quietly pay for his room. Does anyone appear to be watching us?

No one seems to pay more than glancing attention to the group, except the bartender, who somehow manages to split his attention between the game, the group, and the rest of the inn equally.

(been having trouble getting here, sorry. Looks like maybe I finally can)

Rose Marie stables Jasper, then joins the others in the tavern. She's rather quiet and looks to be a little tired from the long journey, but she agrees with the need for a private room.

As for the question of what they are buying, Rose Marie nods her agreement to Azaroth. "I agree. We should be looking for high art, or even low art, and at the moment just keep our eyes and ears open for news of our.... of those we hunt."
