(Since it sounds you prefer to go to the Scimitar first, for now)
The guards peace-bind Banions' sling, then snort at Azaroth's tip with a "no bribes." They give their names as Doran and Tegar.
On the way to the Scimitar, you can see people of all kind, though mostly humans and half-orcs. Few of them are what you would consider "high-class," and many are beggars - usually missing limbs.
You reach the inn without incident (that you notice). The common room is filled with murmurs from the various patrons. While you cannot tell who would be merchants, you can see a man in a wide, dark cloak wearing a grey, circular pendant with a green silhouette of a falcon head. You recognize the holy symbol of Taka - and though the two nobles told you that she is openly revered here, you are surprised to find a priest openly wearing the symbol.
You also see a human in leather armor, wearing the insignia of the city watch.
The bar is quite large, fully running along the long side of the room, at each end a barrel. The barman, a rotund man with dark hair and eyes, whistles as he seems to prepare drinks and plays a board game with one of the patrons at the same time. On first glance, the game might be chess, but there are differences.
