The Dance of Souls

"Hmm. Not a place I would enjoy traveling."

Beamer laughs at Gur's joke, even though it may not have been intended as a joke. "I've not met many dwarves, but that describes more than half. Such serious folk."

Janur laughs a relieved laugh hearing Gur's comment, and seems to forget the wolf's presence. "Describes some dwarves I know. Though I hear it also describes some giants."

"Could be. Could be. I've heard rumors of smart giants before though. Now if there was ever something to be afraid of..."

"Nevermind that. We have ever-so-slightly more important things to talk about. More important than my ramblings at least."

Heh he hoped to reforge the world did he? for just a plain old bouncer you'd have to have a large amount of power to do that. I wonder where he'd hope to get that. Surely normal pieces of art could never grant that kind of power. He must have been just a delusional man.

"So Jarum, what's the layout of Lathrim? So far, I only know of the Dancing Scimitar and the Broken Skull. Are there any areas of town to avoid? You know, rough neighborhoods. Is there a business district?"

If unlikely to be overheard by Garum, Beamer will also ask, "So tell me a little more about Garum. From what you've said so far he seems like a fair .. ah .. man." He stumbles a bit over that last part, not quite sure what to call Garum.

Janur considers for a moment "Important business? What kind? Anyway, areas to avoid, rough neighbourhoods? I'd pretty much avoid all of Lathirn if I had a choice in that matter. Which I don't, but I guess you're not interested in that. Business is conducted where ever it is convenient. Though the main street is propably what you would call a business district. Broken Skull? Don't even get close, or you might be hit by stray furniture or mugs. Don't know how it stays in business with the costs to replace or repair stuff."

Tennar smiles as he answers "Maybe, but I guess he meant it more figurative than literally. More like those who want to kill a tyrant and be a benevolent ruler in his place - or make Lathirn a little less... of a playground for Taka. Art propably never entered into his mind - what makes you think it has, anyway?" The man gives you a suspecting look. "Oh, I think I understand - you think I'm only auctioning art, right? Well, I'm not, at least not everything can be called art."

Janur throws a shy look towards the creature that now silently talks with Officer Samuel.
"Worg. That's what he is. No one really understands what are his motives. Really, it should be out in the wild hunting, maybe torturing other creatures. At least that's how some more nature-minded fellows described worgs to me. Samuel, there, he doesn't really like Garum - he thinks he took the position that would be rightfully his by now - they're both referred to as officers, but Garum is Samuel's superior. His skills enabled him to have quite a career in the watch. Some say that currently Garum and Samuel work together against some organized group that's involved in an attack on Tennar. Some "Talon" or something."

What other dealings do you deal in exactly Tennar? Or are you not at liberty to say?

OOC: I finally realized that Garum is in fact "a down on all fours" wolf-like creature. Even when Janur said worg, I figured he was a country bumpkin who had some bad information. I figured Garum was probably a Gnoll or Were-wolf hybrid like creature. I'm not sure if I'm dumb or just stupid.

IC:
Beamer can't help but stare after realizing it was the wolf that had spoken. In his study to learn more of his magical powers, he had come across plenty of metion of intelligent and even talking animals, but had yet to see any. How have I gotten myself into such a foreign place so quickly? Well, partially gotten myself and partially been thrown into. Beamers small hand visibly tightened in anger on his tankard of ale. His eyes clouded over at the memory of being exiled from his homeland. After just a moment, he is back to his cheery self and continues his conversation with Janur.

Fastforward back to present
Beamer takes another sip of his ale. Ah, free ale has such a pleasant taste.

"Well, as for businesses, our companion Azaroth there is in the market for some new art. I'm not sure what he intended to find in a place like Lathrin -- he's a bit eccentric -- but he pays well. Anyone other than Tenner known for collecting or selling art?"

Tennar: "Mostly, auctioning things, especially when someone needs to pay a debt. And I tell you, the city is a tangled web of debts. I also occasionally safeguard valuable things for those passing through, and aid organizing helpers for them."

I'm not sure if I'm dumb or just stupid.
(Maybe I could have made it clearer. Did the others think I was clear enough on that?)

Janur: "Well, I guess you see why he's such an attraction."

"So, he's your employer? Lucky guy. Then I guess the halfling lady also is part of your group? Anyway, as for art, there's some small scale shops on the main street, but if your Azaroth is as eccentric as you say, I doubt he'll find much of interest there. Tennar is propably the best bet for reputable business... Collectors? Not that I know of directly, but maybe some of the city officials."

OOC: I think it was clear enough. When I looked back over the posts, it was pretty obvious. It was just unexpected. I didn't realize worgs could speak. No worries.

"Do you know anything about this Talon? Sounds like a good idea to avoid them while we're here. Where do they frequent? Or is it a secret organization?"

After getting an answer to this last question, Beamer will hop off his stool and say "Thankyou for the drink, Janur. It was a pleasure talking to you. Next time I'll buy the drinks no matter who wins the dart game. Oh, and if you keep your ears open for anyone selling art, Azaroth will appreciate it," he says with a wink.

Beamer glances around the room for any unoccupied, friendly looking people sitting near Garum and Samuel. If there is anyone, he approaches them and makes small talk (weather, favorite ales, whatever) while trying to overhear Garum and Samuel's conversation. If Beamer gets the feeling that his eavesdropping with be obvious, he'll try something different.

OOC: Listen +3.
