The Dance of Souls

"Master Tennar, is something the matter? You seem quite tense."

Beamer keeps alert for any sign of danger. He wonders, Why would a man be visibly afraid in his own warehouse, especially with his guards posted right outside?

"Well, well." Tennar claps in his hands twice, and you can hear a few people approaching from behind the shelves. "We need to talk - to my conditions. Recently, the galleries of two nobles were robbed an expensive piece each. I know that the people who assaulted me were connected to this robbery, and a few clues lead me to believe that you are connected to it as well." Tennar looks at you two, his hand at his belt - and dagger.

Banion will remain in his current position, hidden and observing.

[Sblock]He is aware of the all too likely possibility that he has been seen, and refuses to be drawn into a trap. He will try to remain a loose factor, difficult for the enemy to account for, and certainly will not accomodate them by following two armed people into a dark alley. He is more certain than ever that things will hit the fan any moment. Are we the only investigators? Do the crooks have violent-minded competition? Banion can't explain why he thinks so, but to him it feels like several different forces are at work. If fighting breaks out, he will need to take care in identifying friend and foe.[/Sblock]

Palming a sling stone, he examines the peace knot tied in his sling, making sure it can be easilly undone.

Alright since we have all our cards on the table I'll play my hand. We are connected to the robbery. But we have been sent to this city in search of those pieces to return them to their rightful owners. We have also been sent to bring justice to those that stole them.

In other words we are the good guys. Now whats your part in this. Why did they attack you? Is it because of this warehouse's secondary functions?

"My part? The people were under the impression that I have some sort of access to another part of the collection. They haven't tried since then, so maybe they reconsidered.
Before the assault, one of my guards also said someone tried to bribe him with an absurdly high sum. I guess they were the same people. The Talon, whatever that means."

Banion:
You could relatively easy remove the knot (as a move action). It's been several minutes now, and the two figures have not returned yet.

"Well, looks like we are on the same side then. I also overheard Garum and the other guard discussing this Talon organization who attacked you. It sounded like the guards are also at odds with the Talon."

Before I came out of my room today I found this note on the floor. *hands it to Tennar* it seems that someone was listening in on our conversation.

I was going to go investigate it tonight if nothing turned up here. Perhaps we will find the men we are looking for tonight.

*I am going to take a look at the faces of Tennar's accomplices*

But just as the great warlords of the past did I want to know my enemy. Do you know of anyone who might know more about the talon?

OOC: Is there anyone I recognize?

"Yes, of course the guards are at odds with the Talon. I mean, they somehow got into the jail where that bouncer was located and murdered him, and the guard couldn't prevent it. If you ask me, the Talon has at least one of the guards in its ranks.

Yes, there certainly is a possibility that our conversation has been overheard. Or one of my two partners in yesterdays game said something to someone after they left."

Azaroth recognizes none of Tennar's guards as he hands him the note.

"Hmm, that's a pretty typical meeting note - hook, time, place, and symbol of recognition. This evening in the aptly named Broken Skull, and your contact would be someone with for mugs or glasses in front of him - Fourdrinker. This Fourdrinker is propably is only a middleman whose job is to lead you to the real dealer... or into a trap, both are about equally likely. I can't tell if it has something to do with the Talon or not, but if this is your best lead..."

Perhaps you should know some further details. One of my other companions had said that he felt that some members of the staff of the inn we were staying in were acting suspiciously. He said that he had a bad feeling pertaining to the people at the inn. I originalyl wondered if they might have been your men. But I see none of their faces amongst your men here. perhaps the key to unraveling this mystery is by investigating into the staff. But once we get back and discuss what we've learned with my companions we will come up with a plan.

"Some of them might have been people loyal to me and the Scimitar, actually. But the Scimitar is going through rough and strange times, which attracts odd people... such as Garum. That wolf gives me the creeps. I'd say keep your eyes open, and go to that guy in the Skull this evening" Tennar hands the note back "But be ready for a trap, either from bandits or the Talon itself. And before you leave, maybe you should take one of the pieces here with you, to keep up the appearance that you are interested in art."
