The Dance of Souls

Good Morning Cadoreysien how did you sleep?
"Why, I had the most grandiose night of my life. I'll make sure to recommend to all my friends the tavern 'Tied up by enemies near a nightmare inducing keep.' I'm sure they'll apreciate it."

"If we meet again, I hope it is in a tavern over an ale because if we meet again out here, we won't ever be meeting again."
"Well, maybe a tavern meeting would be more propable if you hand me back my book." Malivan speaks up for the first time after everyone let Cadoreysien the talking. "Otherwise, we might get caught while stocking up, and we'll never meet again." he smiles politely and bows slightly.
The driver snarls "You better treat our horses well, or ..." She is stopped by Malivan "No need to worry about that, Areviel. You should be able to tell that the human is a man of his word. Creriw, Merriweth, I presume you will want to do the rituals for our fallen companion Afra?"

(I'm assuming that Malivan's book is not returned. If it is, that's easy to backtrack)
With everyone going their way, and the Talon agents apparently not following, the group continues onwards to the Keep.

"I'm afraid I'll keep the book. I might need some light reading to keep me awake near the Keep."

Beamer is keeping the book. He plan to let wizards copy from it in exchange for them crafting scrolls of spells he does not know.

*Azaroth looks back at Cado almost with a saddened look in his face*
*he sighs*
*then looks to his companions*

Well we found out what they did to avoid the keep's affects, as well as scratched the surface of whats going on with the Talon. Though looking back I realized something I forgot to ask. Something very important, and that is how do we get into the keep. Perhaps it shall reveal itself to us when we arrive.

*looks back at Cado again*

*Azaroth mumbles to himself*
Though once my enemy, I hope that the road ahead holds peace for you Cado. Take care.

Now that the group knows more about its surroundings, it is much faster than the previous day. As night falls again, you are certain that you should reach the keep tomorrow, or at least get it in sight.

Taking up camp in the same way as before, Azaroth takes the first watch again.

Banion:
[sblock]Away. Returned. Creating the blade has become second nature for you. A handy skill in your line of work. You enter the keep. They have been waiting for you.
"Welcome, master nffnffva." a voice booms. Why the strange accent on your profession? "Your mission is clear." You nod.

It is time to perform your mission. It feels almost as if it was seconds ago you received it, and now you are already on the verge of finishing it. But you know that's just perceptions. There it is, the target. You create your mindblade, and stab once. twice. three times. Blood flows from the sleeping figure. But as the blood flows, the features of Merriweth change. How is that possible? There was absolutely no such magic! You realize, suddenly, the features of Merriweth change to - your own.

You open your eyes, feeling weak. Someone stabbed you in your sleep. You, the master assasin, had been assassinated. For a short moment, you see yourself, and then, you - or whoever stands there - change to your assigned target - Merriveth, your great rival. A last time, you hear the voice of your master boom "Your rivalry was not productive. She was better."

You take 1 point of Wisdom damage.[/sblock]

"Ohhh. What a headache! I had another sort of dream. Who is Merriveth? Some sort of woman assasin? And has anyone heard of any tales of this place that included someone with abilities similar to my own?"

Banion:
[sblock]After some thinking, you remember that one of the women in the Talon group was called Merriweth. At least, Maliwan addressed her that way at their departure.[/sblock]

Azaroth:
[sblock]Darkness... There is nothing during your sleep. As if... the dreams are kept away from you. You feel something within you crumbling, and something else stirs in the darkness, trying to find you. A distant light shines, trying to get to you, but the something else attempts to cut it off...

You only have a 50% chance to heal the Wisdom damage while in the influence of the keep. I'd like you to roll a d6. High means success.[/sblock]

OOC: Ah, now I feel left out. :) Unless the first spolier was meant for me. Has Beamer ever heard of Merriveth or tales of anyone like Banion? Knowledge Arcana +6

Beamer:
[sblock]"An exquisite choice of literate." he says as he hands you the book. "But dangerous. But you know rhe risks."
You smile, telling him you know the author. Carefully, you wipe over the book. Its material causes an odd sensation. Leaving the library, you resist the temptation to open it immediately. Not on the open street.
Malivan awaits you. "I have it!" you say. "His treachery will be his undoing." You lay the demon-skin book on the table. "Interesting..." Malivan says. "In here, he hides his power?"
Carefully, you open the book. The first pages are not interesting, you know that. It's the last few pages, otherwise it could not have been in the library.
"You know a lot." Malivan says. But it is not Malivans voice... its HIS. Azaroth stands there, where Malivan was. "Too much." His skin comes alive, melds with the book, and then the skin jumps at you. The last you see is the skinless Azaroth, skinning Malivan.

You take one point of temporary Wisdom damage.[/sblock]
