The Dance of Souls

ooc: just a note Knight Aza already regained his wisdom he lost but none the less.

Rolled Outcome: 1d6=2

in his dream: Aza runs towards the light as if trying to reach it. Though because I rolled a 2 I am guessing he never reaches it

OOC: heh doesn't that fit nicely with my sig sentence.

Deep into that Darkness peering, Azaroth stood there, fearing, wandering, doubting

"Oi, such a head ache. Are you all ok? Azaroth, my latest dream troubles me greatly. You have been an excellent companion and grown to become my friend. I had not asked before as it seemed none of my business, but what is this Ritual of Bonding that you have asked about in the past? You mentioned it to Tennar that it had to do with demons? What do you hope to gain from it?"

*azaroth looks down at the ground* I see...... so you had a Nightmare that dealt with me, with the ritual?

Beamer what the Ritual of Bonding is, is a text that details a ritual that a group of people known as the Acolytes of the Skin use to summon forth demons and then become one with them. By wearing the demon like a second skin

I can understand why this would make you uneasy so if you wish to understand my interest in the ritual then allow me to tell you a bit of back story pertaining to it.
Growing up my father used to read me stories of epic conflicts between good and evil. I loved these stories and would share the ones I knew of with a friend of mine, his name was Maximillion Legrasse.

About 5 years ago Maximillion left my town, unannounced, and unexpectedly. I never heard from him again. for those years I believed him to be dead, then about 8 months ago I received a letter in the mail from him telling me he had discovered something astounding and wanted me to visit him immediately in his home in Orussuss. When I arrived at his home he showed me what he had been doing all this time. After hearing the stories I used to share with him he became fascinated with Demons and set out on his own to learn more about them, just as I have.

His research was very similar to my own his was a bit more indepth though. While doing my research I had read stories of a book that allowed people to wear the skin of a demon. but assumed it to be a legend, as most of the other stories I was reading at the time were. But Maximillion, he actually discovered evidence that suggested that it may not be a legend after all. It was an amazing find.

After showing me what he had found Maximillion's tone changed, in a quiet voice he told me he had actually found a page of the book on one of his recent travels. He showed it to me and I'll admit when reading it a feeling of excitement swept over me. That page was definately part of the lengedary ritual.

Anyways after seeing his research and reading that page, I decided that I would try and find the rest of that book, and study it. I imagine that if i got my hands on it, my knowledge of demons would become greatly enhanced.

I told Maximillion about my decision and he grew ecstatic, at that point he told me of his decision to do so as well and how he planned to leave that night. He said he had some contacts.......*Azaroth pauses for a minute* *he becomes a bit worried but attempts to shake it off and continue* that might have some information for him.

We spoke for a bit longer then I headed back to the Red Dragon for the night.

I've always been interested in the demonic Beamer. This is a rare text as most copies have been lost or destroyed. The potential information to be gained from such a text as this is great. Plus the text itself is a curiosity.

Beamer I understand your concern but my interest is to further my own knowledge in the subject, nothing more.

OOC: heh this was supposed to be up a LOOONG time ago but I started writing it when I was feeling tired. So a few sentences in I fell asleep on my bed. Had this in edit mode for about 8 hours. lol

Beamer looks at Azaroth with a bit of fascination, wonder, and horror. He is clearly disoriented by the dream. "In my dream, there was a book, bound in demon skin. I don't know how I know that, it's the way of dreams I guess. Malivon, the wizard we defeated, was there. I opened the book and then you were there. The book melded into your skin and then jumped at me, and then you were skinning Malivon. The book, was it the ritual of binding?

"I trust you when you say your interest is purely academic; you've shown yourself a true and loyal friend. But isn't there a better course of study for a good man than demonology? There are many legendary creatures of great good. I read somewhere once, 'When you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back into you.' Oh, but perhaps the entire dream was only the Keep twisting together memories in my own head."

"Who were these 'contacts' your friend was meeting?"

OOC: Sorry for the delay

To know creatures of good does nothing to help us Beamer. Knowledge can be a weapon and it can become even more powerful when the subject is your enemy.

But Beamer having heard the details of your dream I understand your concern even more. However we have to remember that this keep affects a person's dreams to reveal horror, not truth.
*Azaroth remembers his dream from the other night and Shudders* I almost let my dream consume me. Look what almost happened.

As for Maximillion's contacts, he did not mention them by name, but he knows many people due to his travels. I have to hope that he has nothing to do with the Talon. But evidence does suggest it as a possibility.

*Azaroth Turns to Banion*

I'm sorry to say Banion but my knowledge of this keep is as limited as yours. Though I seem to recall didn't Cado call one of her companions Merriweth?

"There may be a grain of truth to the dreams. I did not know before my dream that the "Ritual of Bonding" involved wearing a demon in place of the skin, but the dream revealed that to me. That knowledge came from somewhere. From the Keep, or perhaps the Keeps intermingles each other's thoughts together. I wish Sam had not left us. He seemed to have a gift for this meta-physical, philosophical stuff. But you are right, whatever truth there is in the dreams, it is no doubt clouded and distorted by heaps of falsity so that any truth is unrecognizable. Still, it may do us well to discuss them." Beamer looks at Banion, Gur, and Azaroth in turn. "What was in your dreams?"

OOC: Sam is the PC wizard who dropped off. I had to look it up so I thought I would save some head scratching.
