The Dance of Souls

Speaking quietly, Beamer says, "Or the group we waylaid could have been the replacements from Lathirn. The divination magic lends evidence to them being the search party. But, the replacements are late and the search team was not yet supposed to have arrived, and I do not think we would have arrived here before the team we attacked was expected. And the team we attacked was coming from the direction from Lathirn. Let's try to set up an ambush on this path further into the mountains. We'll have to hurry and keep out of sight of both the keep and the path."

"I'm pretty sure that we ambushed the replacements rather than the search team. The search team seems to be expected from the other direction."

Perhaps if you both feel the search team eludes us. Then we should pay them a little visit. Though I am curious, what should we hope to accomplish with this venture?

"With the curse that surrounds this place, I hope the garrison in the keep is small. The more we fight outside the keep, the fewer will be inside it when the time comes that we must breah its walls. I would also like to see if we might question some more of these people, as I expect our last prisoners hid some things that may be significant from us."

"The fewer of our enemies that can use the advantage of a fortified position against us, the better."

Banion sums up Beamer's thoughts exactly. He adds, "I wish we could retrieve the pieces of art by stealth, but I fear at least some fighting will be necessary."

"Let me get a bit ahead of you, then follow at a leisurely rate."

Banion begins to stealthilly circle about toward the mountain trail.

The ambush team stealthily makes its way towards the mountain trail - easily avoiding detection. If the garrison in the keep is worried about the outside at all, it doesn't show. Maybe they put a lot of faith into the bloodstained dreams. Or they consider the keep itself to be safe.

A distance after the group has passed the keep, Gur whispers "It cannot be easy to move that gate. Though that whole keep appears foolish."
