Sorry, we really have lead this thread off-topic. I blame insufficient adulation in our childhood.

There is an interesting companion point to the original article. I find myself behaving in a different manner in response to those who behave in the way described here. The more you sing the praises of something as if it were the greatest thing ever, the more I will have to rail against it.

I'm the lone PC user in a household with 3 Mac roommates, and I often find myself cracking mac jokes and poking holes in their adorations just to rile them up a little. :) Then in a moment of almost lucidity, one of them asked me what it was I hated so much about Apple. But the key is, I don't actually. I don't care what system you use, whichever makes you personally happier is cool with me. But I just feel that someone has to stand up against the rising tide of Mac love that threatens to drown my house from time to time.

I blame you, actually. But not in a "hater" kind of way. Just in a, "Really, it's his fault, " kind of way.

On the topic of poking holes in adoration - I can see that. Providing a reality check feels somehow warranted when you can hear nothing but "it's the best".

I'm currently teaching myself linux, and while I'm enjoying it on several fronts (even the beating my head against the monitor), after a particularly frustrating weekend of dealing with completely non-intuitive design methodologies, I sent a humorous set of slogans to a group of my friends regarding a proposed marketing scheme that touched on every problem I had had.

A couple of them use linux as their primary OS. Most laughed, some cried, but only one was immediately on the "You said bad things Linux User Investigatory" bandwagon trying to find out what distro I was using, and making suggestions for other "better" flavors. While milder than a "why you such a hater" response, it was in the same vein.

Hear something that doesn't sound like cherubim singing about what you love, and it's time to bring out the steel chair and the bright lamp and start the interrogation.

Ah well...

In the end, Chipper Shredders for a Better Tomorrow shall reign supreme, and everyone who doesn't agree with me will be just so much lawn fertilizer. :)

I know that I personally recieve insufficient adulation and I blame you all

as to the MAc-PC divide I'm one who agrees that Macs are better but use a PC because everyone else is and I want to be compatible

which I know would seem quite pathetic if I wasn't engrossed in sufficient self adulation
