The Yellow Dragon was in 2nd Edition. It was basically "the other chromatic dragon". I've never seen the purple orange outside of crossbreeds.

However, they first appeared as a 1e monster in the pages of Dragon Magazine. 1982 or 1984 I believe (it's been a long time since I dug through my old Dragons).

Issue #248 has the yellow, orange, and purple dragons. It's worth noting that the ones there were different than previous takes on the same colors (e.g. the orange dragon was, IIRC, another name for the sodium dragon).

I wish I had my CDs nearby - I'm almost certain the 1e version of the Orange dragon was also a sodium dragon.

Yellow= salt
Orange= sodium
Purple= energy

I will take a long look at the TOC before I condsider buying this book. Most of the favs I posted on the other thread have nothing to do with rules and thus I doubt have been updated.

Well, I meant that the yellow (salt) dragon in the article(s) wasn't akin the yellow dragon in the Monstrous Manual.

I hope we see the Sheens by Bruce Cordel also updated. The two articles on them were great for my campaign and I'd love to reintroduce them to 3.5.

Another one would be the Giants in the Earth. There were some great versions of characters like Roland done that would be great for a 3.5 game.

Another one would be some of the creatures from the old (pre 100s) of Creature Collection. I know a few of those monsters were updated, but some like Elder Wyrm never were.

Plenty of opportunities here and best all, if they don't get it the first time, this is only the first volume.

I do hope that the material is themed a bit though. For example, if they update a few Astral Realm articles, that those articles are lumped in the same are of the book.

I'll be very curious to see what the table of contents on this looks like

the article you mention was an update of an old article by the same author.
