The Dragon Compendium Volume 1 preview in the new Dragon?

I'm hoping an update of the Slaad Lords and the Altraloths will be in one of these books. :)

Now THAT's that great idea! It'd go perfect with the almost-certain updates on the Dukes of Hell that it'll have.

the article you mention was an update of an old article by the same author.
I suspected that, since I noticed both articles had the same title, "The Missing Dragons".

While I look forward to seeing many of the old articles updated, I think that the best of the advice for players and DMs can be a great help. A lot of time is spent on these boards discussing how to deal with problems that have been around for a long time.

Some of my favorites among the "crunch" articles, besides those mentioned, include the "Tuatha De Danaan" article. Possibly, one section of the book could be devoted to real life cultures and mythologies adapted to the game. Also, the articles that Roger E. Moore (where is he these days) wrote about demihumans and their deities might be very useful for roleplaying purposes. (Currently, on thiese boards we have a poll on "Elves, Love 'em or hate'em. Perhaps we can have some insights into the different races and cultures in the game.)

"Giants in the Earth" might be good, adapted to 3.5. It might give players some ideas for books to pick up, or serve as a source for interesting NPCs -- or even as models for player characters to follow.

As for the Sheens, they could work well in a few settings. Realmspace is large, and the illithid are already an example of one type of invaders from distant worlds. The World of Greyhawk had S1: The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks. Eberron seems to be a cosmology that is cut off from other worlds, so possibly the Sheen in Eberron might have their origins in the ruins of Xen'drik -- a shadow of the past come back to haunt the present.

The more I think about this (as a line of products), the better I like it. Paizo has decades of great material to work with; that's a tremendous asset. Bringing it out, polishing it up and binding it together for the 3E players is just an all-around awesome idea.

I agree. I used to always go through my Dragon CD ROM reading old articles, and then I had to stop because I got a headache trying to convert a bunch of things to 3E.

Like those nifty Rakasta and Lupin articles.

And I just want to see the Kercpa again, just for the hell of it. :D

Did I mention I've love to see the other metallic dragons covered? The ones like Iron and Nickle? That would be great. And bring their overlord into the new system too as a powerful monster and as a god so that those who want to run it via old Tiamat and Bahamut can and those who want to use it as a religious thing can.

Well, I meant that the yellow (salt) dragon in the article(s) wasn't akin the yellow dragon in the Monstrous Manual.

And this is the MM Yellow Dragon I'd like to have an update of. Of course, it wasn't going to be in a Best Of Dragon collection, since it was never there in the first place, but still...
