The Dragon price increase?

Plane Sailing

Astral Admin - Mwahahaha!
Orcs Nest has just reported the arrival of Dragon 300 - and a big price increase under the new publisher :(

Just curious - has the US and other locations seen this price increase too?

Cheers

Same here. Dungeon went to 7.99 US$ (9.99 CAN$) but Dragon stayed the same (at least issue 299 was, the first issue under Pizao Publishing, I haven't got 300 yet).

Even at 9.99 Dungeon is still worth it in my opinion. I hate price increases but I always felt I was getting a really good deal on Dungeon for 7.99 (CAN$). 9.99 makes it just an OK deal now.

Will have to look into the subsciption rates (and bring out my slide ruler to figure out the exchange rate  )

I won't be surprised if Dragon's price goes up too. I'm guessing that WotC was running the magazines as a loss leader, and even if they weren't, a smaller company with fewer in-house resources would probably have to charge more just to stay afloat, probably.

Of course, I'm not an economist, so you decide what you think my guesses are worth on this subject.;)

No Price Increase for Dragon

Dragon's not going up in price. The price for issue #300 is the same as it's been since the release of 3rd edition.

(OK, it went up by 4 cents somewhere in the last year, but that's it for price increases for a while.)

My Dragon hasn't changed in price since I started getting it around #274, just picked up #299 don't expect #300 till next month (being in the UK), but so far no change in price.

[edit: Out of interest Dungeon has been the same price all that time. Which for the same money is much better value if you ask me.]

You know......you just have to love ENWorld and hug Morrus for having it. Where else you gonna get such quick responces from various publishers and company officials? Makes me wish I had the money to be a true member!!!

Disclaimer : I have no connection to Morrus or ENWorld, in fact I have been outspoken about a couple things and probably have made Morrus mad. The above is my true feeling and unsolicited.

Thank you for replying to Plane Sailing's point, but I'm sorry to say that you are categorically wrong. The price in the UK has skyrocketed from £3.50 (about US $5.30) for issue 298 to £4.99 (roughly US $7.59) each for issues 299 and 300.

I present the following pages from Leisure Games's site as evidence:

The price of Dragon 298 and the price of Dragon 299 and 300.

I also present as evidence the big hole in my pocket. I am gutted that, once again, British gamers have been hard done by the gaming industry in the US.

I remember when Dragon switched from being an outrageously expensive magazine to reasonably priced some time in the 100's. Before then, I hardly ever bought it. After the price came down, I hardly ever missed it. I may have to stop buying it again even though I really enjoy it. It's just too expensive now.

It hasnt gone up. Not here in the US. Issues going back to at least #290 (which I have in front of me at the moment) are priced at $5.99. That is exactly the same cover price for #299 and #300.

If Leisure Games has different prices, then they are jacking it up. WotC/Paizo hasn't changed it at all. For example, at DragonTrove (http://www.dragontrove.com/dragons.html) all issues are $5.99.
