The early days of RPG dice......

Lou doesn't have a website, sadly. Which is a shame; I really miss those classic razor edged dice.

The DECKRAIDER dice sets have a very classic, sharp edged design (although the tips of the D4s are filed down to avoid the caltrop effect). I ended up picking up a red set for Paranoia use, and have been quite please with them. RPGshop carries them (http://www.rpgshop.com/product_info.php?cPath=_30_192&products_id=35380&).

There's an article about this in the 25th anniversary Silver Boxed Set. If I recall correctly, the first polyhedrals were ordered from Europe and Gary et al had to remove an unused die from every box before shipping them out. Eventually they just created a reason for that die (the d12? I don't remember) to be in the game and sent the boxes out whole. :)
Europe, eh? Interesting!

The first true high-impact polyhedrals were created by Lou Zocchi of Gamescience fame (he was inducted into the Origins Awards Hall of Fame for his dice---in particular the Zocchihedron d100---and for being the first rpg distributor)

I just saw Lou Zocchi's name in Dragon #2 while re-reading the original appearance of the remorhaz and thought "Gee, that name sounds familiar" -- how serendipitious to find out why so quickly!

Pre-Christianity was only a little over a year ago? Wow, I would have sworn it's been longer than that since he showed up.... he,he.
