Tyrion gives Riar'lon a searching look,

"The Feywild has changed for the worse I fear my friend. I have spoken little of why myself and Ashara were headed for Daunton. We had hoped to garner aide for our people driven from our ancient home in the Feywild by a sudden assault by the twisted Fomorian King Thorgar, called the Childeater. But Ashara was taken and I could not even get aide for her rescue, let alone for my people..."

The Eladrin hangs his head,

"We lost the greatest of our people in the battle for our home, and took the only escape root we could - the Harrow Passage. To pass through into that dark place the mightiest of our warriors and wizards held back a tide of twisted creatures lead by Thorgar's Cyclops minions."

Tyrion's eyes mist over with painful memories,

"And of those of us who made the passage perhaps three quarters emerged to this place, few if any of us unscathed. The dead do not stay dead in that passage and our very life force was sapped away by its relentless gloom. And when we emerged we found ourselves virtually defenseless and preyed upon by a strange tribe of goblins mounted upon spiders. So many have died, and I, I have failed my people."

The Eladrin turns from the group, hiding his face, but shame and sorrow ring in his voice,

"I have failed my people, I cannot fail Ashara."

He stands still for a moment and then walks off into the growing darkness clearly overcome by his emotions.

"You have not failed anyone Eladrin Tyrion, the situation you described was way too much for a single individual to handle. Placing all the responsibility of your comrades death upon your very shoulders is not wise, or honourable, its foolish. We will rescue the female, and punish with a quick death to those responsible for her abduction." The githyanki says, trying his best to comfort the eladrin. Obviously, his words never come out as expected. Unsure of what to do, he approaches the man and places a hand in his shoulder.

Before they moved on Murphy would be overcome with excitement at their victory over the goblinoids. "Huzzah! Those cowards will think twice before attempting their extortion activities again. Well done all, I am genuinely impressed at the prowess of your abilities." Murphy says, sheathing his dagger.

[sblock=OOC]
Murphy's fine with the others having the magical items. Not much use to him
[/sblock]

Once they are discussing the best location for their camp, he remains quiet as his knowledge is better suited to an urban locale.

After Tyrion's tale and departure, the pirate will follow the eladrin into the darkness. When Murphy cathes up to Tyrion, he'll put a hand on the eladrin's shoulder and look him in the eyes, "I am terribly sorry for your loss, I cannot imagine the grief that you are going through, nor the difficult times that you and your people suffered, but now is not tht time for despair. We have gathered to help you locate Ashara and I swear on all the gods that I won't allow her to fall to death and torment. After that, we'l talk about how we can pay back those goblins for their cowardly attacks". The human wipes back some tears welling up in his own eyes.

Murphy hopes his ruse works and convinces the eladrin to return to the others. He's not really feeling any pity towards Tyrion... but he's a good actor.

"Are these goblin spider-riders the same group of Branders that captured Ashara? Or did you manage to escape the goblin's grasp only to be set upon by a mortal force? I agree with my companions, we will help you free your sister and then we can help you with your quest as well. You have not failed, you have found the aide that you sought." offers Callen.

Tyrion takes a breath and offers up a sickly smile,

"Of course you are right my friends, I take too much upon myself. So much of this is beyond me, it is hard to believe it was has been less than a month since I performed in the royal court. It seems like a life time. I know you will save Ashara, the gods could not let it be otherwise. The spider riders are a different group I am afraid, we have no name for them though we believe they dwell underground. They seem content to merely take what they want, but we have so little now..."

He sighs heavily, but continues,

"So where do we make camp?"

[sblock=Insight 15]Tyrion is clearly embarresed by his outburst and would like to be alone to quell his emotions, but he sems to realize this is impractical and heads back to the group.[/sblock]

Kama'zer pays little attention to Tyrion's speech. His feelings and emotions had no bearing on how they were going to accomplish their mission. She did file away the list of possible future foes which he spoke of though...

Ts'iri listened to everyone but didn't say anything. See knew so little of this land and it's people that she really didn't have much to add. She planned to follow the others lead. She was sure then knew much better than her about how to camp.

She also listened to Tyrion speech. Most of what he said was also unknown to her. He seemed sad and ashamed but from the sounds of it there wasn't much else he could have done. Why would he blame himself so? The people here were so curious.

OCC: The group can put Ts'iri anywhere in the watch order they want.

[sblock=Pheonix] Hope you don't mind that I shamelessly stole your skill challenge post as a template, and even kept some of your text. Just let me know and I will be happy to rewrite it if you wish. You know what they say though, immitation is the highest form of flattery![/sblock]

[sblock=Watch Order] Try to come up withj a standing watch order and we will use that from now on to save me having to enquire. Murphy volunteered for first watch, how about the rest of you?[/sblock]

The night passes uneventfully, though the howling of wolves does keep the watchmen on their toes. As the sun crests the horizon and everyone forces themselves to eat the unappetizing trail rations they contemplate the great swathe of forest before them.

OOC

Skill Challenge: Navigating the Starkreach Woods

The party is trying to find their way through the woods, not an easy task in a forest where the magic of the Feywild seeps through shifting the trees and disorienting those who try to traverse it. Tyrion's will be helping the party, but so tricky to navigate are the woods that he still requires the party to aide, so you need to tackle a complexity 5 skill challenge on your own.

Primary skills: Nature, Endurance, and Perception.
Endurance: At least two characters in the party must make Endurance checks each turn to fend of the effects of wandering in the wild woods.
Nature: At least one character in the party must make a nature check to aide Tyrion in finding the groups way through the wilderness.
Perception: Using this skill does not count as a success or failure for the challenge, but allows you to add a +2, or -2 penalty if you fail, to the next characters Nature or Endurance check.
Secondary Skills: Heal, Athletics. May only be used once per character.
Other skills: You can try to use any other skill you can think of a good reason for. Explain how you are trying to use that skill to help traverse the woods.
Initiative: We will follow the initiative order strictly for this skill challenge starting from the top with Mri'thras. No talking out of turn (except for OOC posting. That's okay to do if you have questions or whatever, but no in character posting except on your initiative). Each character will choose a skill, post what they plan on saying or doing, and link to their skill check. Then the DM will post the result of the check and talk for the NPC as needed. Then the next PC, and so on till you attain 12 successes or get 6 failures.

Mri'thras - 27
Ts'iri - 18
Riar'lon - 14
Kama'zer - 9
Callen - 7
Murphy - 4

Examples: Tyrion looks up to the sky and gauges the position of the sun to try and determine if they are still on course. K.Nature = 18 success!
Tyrion strides along determinedly refusing to let the arduous journey break his resolve, despite the fact that his injuries are still clearly painful. Endurance = 21 success!
