indeed, elemental planes remind me of dnd races. Each race which isn't human has 1 set of characteristics. ALL halflings are curious and friendly. 100%. All gnomes like gadgets. Soo many "options" but less than no thought or design put into any of them.
The planes are the same way, they're just a video game level. This idea that they are an infinite place of endless regions is no where in how they are described. How can 1 guy (That many parties can kill) somehow rule a land infinately larger than the planet the players are on?
It might as well just be "the lava level", "the underwater level", "the jumping platform level", ect.
