When you snap your fingers to put it into stasis, it has a 25% chance of going off.

Same when you snap it out of stasis.

but consider this (heh heh hehe)....

get the gloves of storing, cast DB fireball, spend 1 round moving away, spend the next round casting Mage Hand to make the glove snap.....

Then have the gloves studded with gold and jewls. Give them to the leader of an enemy country as a "Token of Peace" at an upcomming large banquet or similar event.......

Then have the party bard play a song with a nice, hoppy rythm (from a safe distance away, of course)......

Then make appropriate innocent, polite, surprised, and horrified comments.

Presto! One dead enemy ruler!

It was in the early spring I think. Someone had this idea and wrote in to the sage. Now, if we had a master list of all the Sages responses we could easily look it up. However, since we don't I'd just ignore it.
 

remember the 25% chance of explosion is only the round before.
Cast with 5 round delay, then pick up during round one. When you bring it back it is round 2, you have 2 rounds to be safe, and the 3rd it explodes.
