The really great thing about this is that all of the tables and gear are folded up and tucked away at the end of the session, so my wife gets her front room back! ;)

Despite my being a gamer and a wife, this is always a huge concern for me (sometimes the girly domestic Liz conflicts with the nerdy gamer Liz). At current, our main living and entertaining spaces are filled with books, minis, mats, dice, etc and - while I love the game - I'd really like to have a living room that is more like something out of Good Housekeeping than Dragon. And, call me crazy, but our books just don't seem to match our beautiful floral couches!

So - when we move into the new place - we're going to create a "gaming room" out of the extra bedroom - we'll have all the fun and, when it's done, we'll be able to shut the door! It will be like magic!

Yea, we'd love to have a setup like that as well, but with 5 kids, we're already a bit jammed as it is! :p Oh, and my wife games as well - in fact, she's party leader!

Ain't life GRAND? :D

I'm wondering if our odd setup might not be ideal for you guys under the circumstances.

We play in a friend's basement. He set up a table originally for Warhammer and it is a twin sized bedframe/boxspring/matress with a 4'x8' sheet of plywood just laid on top of it. We sit around it on a pair of couches and a comfy chair or two.

The reason why this might work well for you guys is that your extra bedroom could actually be used for someone to sleep in if need be. All you'd have to do is clear the stuff off the plywood sheet and set it up against the wall. Then you slap a set of sheets on the bed and it is ready to go.

An interesting wrinkle:

Not including the attached walk-in closet, our proposed space is 15'x11' (165 Sq. feet). How does that mesh (or not) with your recommendations/experiences?

How does that mesh with my experiences? *Trying to imagine/visualize my set-up for comparison*

Sounds decent, but too small compared to what I'm used to. *visualizes again* I could (theoretically) put my pool table (8' x 4') in there, with 3.5' around all the edges. The walk-in closet could conceivably be filled with shelves to hold all the game books. Lack of space for the extra DM books I keep on tables beside and behind me hurts. No media center space for music also hurts.

But everyone's needs are different!
