The GMF Campaign (The Dreams)

The healing seems to help a bit, though it seems to be an injury of no physical sort. The halfling has obviously seen something.

Hmmm...

Arathan notices the rings everyone is pulling from their pockets. With a sigh upward he reaches into his pocket and retrieves the gold ring.

With a look at the ring, with its mysterious presence, and the Halfling, who was touched by somthing beyond, Arathan can't help but wonder at the powers involved. He thinks back to the dream and searches his religious teachings for an answer...

First the seemingly shared dream, and now this mysterious ring. Things are definitely turning strange. Well, I wanted out of the boring army life, so it looks like I got my wish.

"I don't know about the rest of you", Morax says, "but I'd kinda like to know what this thing does before I put it on."

Laying the ring down on the table (and giving the halfling a look which says, "don't even think of taking it", Morax returns to finishing his ham and potatoes.

Leon sat in his chair, putting on a show of gingerly lowering himself into it. He then seemed to regain some composure from the fall, and a more aware look came into his eyes, the stutter left his voice, and he became more sure of his movements, seeming to realize what had happened to him, since no one went along with his act.

Leon sees the downright accusitory look from the man, who seems to think he was a common street thief. "I resent that." he spoke, directly to the man, "That you think me so low, as to steal a ring of no obvious value to me."

"I in fact, have my own ring of the same nature." he continued, showing the man my already donned ring. "It dosn't look magical to me, and trust me, I have quite the eye for magical rings."

"It could be magical, for all I know." I finished, revising my last statment, "I'm taking the chance of putting it on, because I'd like to know what it does first hand, not from some possibly unreliable Identify spell."

((OOc: I know he didn't say that, but I saw his look, I say "Downright accusatory look", not statement, but anyhoo))

(He didn't actually say that. That's just what we can assume his look at you or me looks like.)

"Nice to meet you Zanis." says Elden extending his hand to shake Zanis's.

He then looks back at the ring, little too intrigued by the ring, Elden starts to think outloud to himself, of which he normally does once and a while.

"I wonder what this is for. I wonder, would the those of us with the rings that have our names on them be meant to go together for some reason. Fascinating little trinket.

A little too curious for his own good, Elden puts the ring on to see if anything noticable happens.

For those of you putting on the rings:
The rings seem to have no discernable effect though you can feel the pulse of magic from them once they are donned.

For anyone who has Spellcraft DC 15:
[sblock]You can feel a magical connection through this ring to another source of magic power[/sblock]

Spellcraft DC 20:
[sblock]You can feel a mental link to the other magical sources[/sblock]

Knowledge (arcana): [Knowledge checks cannot be used untrained] DC 25:
[sblock]You recognize these rings as a set of a rarely-seen magical item. These are Rings of Friends which will allow the wearers that the set of rings are keyed to (the names inscribed on the rings) to communicate telepathically if they succeed at a Concentration check (DC 20). It also allows a wearer to "summon" the others keyed to the set if they are willing which will instantly transport them to the "summoner" as long as they are on teh same plane. This ability can only be used 1/day per ring.[/sblock]

(DO NOT look at the abolve spoilers if you have not posted and succeeded at a appropriate Skill check. METAGAMING is NOT acceptable. It ruins things do not do it. Thank you.)

You all also notice the apparent silence of Gilburtus, a name on only three of the rings of those who have spoken. You all notice a quiet man away from the other 7 of you...

casts Identify on his ring.[/sblock]

Gilburtus slowly stands up from his chair finally coming to a desicion. He adress all in attendence. "It is quite apparent that set upon us by some means beyond our understanding is a quest. These rings that have appeared obviously elude to us who our companions are to be on this quest."

He places on the ring.

@John, Morex, Leon. Using the ring.
[sblock]
Greetings to you my companions. [/sblock]

@Leon
"Wanting to know what it does firsthand is a good way to lose a hand. But since the wizard here has donned his, mayhaps I will, too."

@Gilburtus

"So now we are companions in a quest? Seven strangers who seem to have shared a dream, and know nothing of each other? Well, adventure is what I left the army for, so I'll bite."

Morax jams the ring on his finger.

""Now my magical 'companion', what does this thing do?"

Leon examines the ring further, taking it off and twirling it around in his hand. "Well, now that I really look at it, it is magical, a mental link, I think it would give us the ability to telepatically communicate, but that's just a conjecture."

He sliped the ring back on his finger, and thought, "Hello, can anyone hear me?" he was wondering if this would work or not...

He saw his food finally arrive, He was famished, he dug into it, feeling the food roll around in his mouth, enjoying the flavor

Arathan, who is still next to Leon from helping him with the amnesia attack, says "Well that is odd, but interesting"

He sliped the ring back on his finger

* Blink - Blink *

Arathan doesn't hear anything so he just stares confused at the halfling for a moment. "Ah, sorry, I think you might be mistaking there. Nice guess though...

his food finally arrive

"Oh... Maybe it's a ring of summing breakfast." He gestures to the waitress, "I'll have what he's having. And send me the bill for the mess at the other table, sorry about the juice..."

Arathan turns to Zanis, "I'm Arathan to answer your question. And I indeed do have your name on my ring also. Now if someone could just explain all", he gestures to the room, the seven others, and the ring in his hand, "of this, I'd feal a lot better. It's nothing my religious teachings can identify."
