D&D 5E (2024) The Great Wizard Extinction.

Side note: wouldn’t it be 1 extra hit vs 0.6 extra hits. Since you need to adjust for accuracy?
Yeah but when has strict adherence to the facts worked!?

My opinion is Bless is a good spell but is not always the best option - well balanced in fact. Although it is somewhat hampered by my players forgetting they have it.

Its always good enough to drop at low opportunity cost if you want be bothered/not sure/don't care.

Everyone else likes it.

They can get it but opportunity cost is high.

Bless isn't always the ideal play. Its never a bad play. No risk eg a failed save or bossed attack roll.

Guiding bolt miss is way to frequent lol.
They are both first level spells. Neither cares about your casting stat. They are both strong spells. They can both be picked up by any caster for minimal cost.

Origin feat?

Opportunity cost. You could take tashas instead. Or Alert. Or another spell.

. Shields also very over rated. Its just damage, clerics can heal themselves and you have hit dice as well (new prayer of healing as well).

For the most part its not that relevant imho. And as I said bless is never bad to cast in a whire room. May not be optimal. I've seen it cast for something to do where it probably wont matter to much but its better than a cantrip or whatever.
