Calithil Manor - Master Suite

The spirit continues to claw its way from the still form of the woman. It's eyes burn with hate and anger, but it seems to be having issues fully manifesting. The runic circle on the floor glows and hisses as it begins to radiate heat, charring the wood floor beneath it.

Zinnelis watched as the spirit pulled its way from the elven woman. He wracked his brain trying to think what to do. His normal weapons would do nothing against an incorporeal creature such as this.


“This thing is undead, right?” he asked, dropping his sword. He pulled out the wand tucked in his belt and jabbing it at the ghost.

Calithil Manor - Master Suite

The shade finally frees itself from its mortal coil as Zinnelis plunges his wand into its being. The spirit shrieks with rage and backhands the unfortunate elf. An overwhelming sense of agony tears through him as oozing wounds appear on his flesh and his bones fracture like glass. Theia's gaze seems to have no affect on the creature which continues to shriek and wail in a combination of rage and unfathomable sorrow.

As an undead creature, the spirit is immune to mind-affecting effects. Undead and hexes apparently do not mix well.

Incorporeal is in fact a different trait, but she is a ghost which has both undead and incorporeal traits. On a different note, I'm concerned that this fight may result in a TPK if things keep going this way; therefore, I would like to propose perhaps ending the adventure early. My concern is that when I first wrote this adventure and it was approved, it was designed for apl 4. That is five players averaging level 4. As it stands with Zinnelis and Theia averaging 2.5, and even with Aelspeth who is spotty right now raising that to a solid 3, I feel that your odds of survival are slim. However if you wish it we can continue and see how fortune favors you, or npcs/pcs could be recruited for backup in the fight. I'd like your guys' input on this, and I really sorry it came to this.

Ealt, would taking that mind-affecting immunity away be an option? Most of Theia's arsenal is debuffing and control. I don't believe we have a way to do damage if it is just Zin and Theia. (besides poking the thing with healing wands) ((which was good thinking))

Maybe perhaps removing the requirement that it can't be hurt except by magical weapons?

Also, the chance of TPK is kind of thrilling. Taking the real chance of dying away lessens the fun for me. Theia doesn't think she's in control of her own destiny anyway.

I guess if we choose to just wrap up the adventure early, we could just have the characters run away. Not sure how to roleplay any timebased gold though.

"Zinnelis! See if you can hold it off while either Aelspeth or myself gets some ashes from downstairs!" Theia cried.


“I’ll try,” Zinn groaned, staggering back a bit. He was swaying on his feet. But he couldn’t let this thing get loose on the ladies. He lunged forward again, jabbing once more with the wand.


This time he connected and he watched the flash of positive energy explode inside of the ghost.
