"The Hobbit" Trailer

Do you find "The Hobbit" trailer to make playing a dwarf more interesting?

Humans all the way for me. But like I've said before, unlike some previous portrayals of the dwarves from The Hobbit, at least these are dwarves that you can take seriously. You look at them and you can see how they might stand a chance of defeating Smaug and reclaiming their homeland.

It makes me want to listen to its awesome song in its entirety. And sing along, of course!

Thinking of dwarves, I haven't played one since the mid-90s. Humans, half-elves and elves are my favorites, in that order. So I'll go with a "no".

Does seeing the trailer for "The Hobbit" make you want to play a dwarf?

Naw, it makes me want to play a dragon and kill lots of dwarves. I side with the dragon on this one.

How dare a Hobbit steal his treasure! And the nerve of those evil dwarves thinking they can claim the treasure as their own!

So what, Smaug laid waste to the kingdoms a few times. Big deal, stuff happens. The other 95% of the time he was just relaxing in the mountain not bothering anyone.

I'd be mad too and probably would rampage around town if someone stole from my home. Plus, Smaug was handicapped. They took advantage of his weak spot and he was murdered.

Hmm, I guess my answer would be "not yet". There's barely enough room in a whole two movies for that ensemble cast to get much screentime, let alone a trailer. Heck, even the original novel doesn't do full justice to the entire dwarven company.

Judging from the trailer (which, admittedly, one should never do), it looks like this will be something of a three-handed tale between Bilbo, Thorin and Gandalf, with of course the most emphasis upon Bilbo. How far it goes in characterising the rest will remain to be seen.

From the trailer, it seems to me that not all the dwarves are portrayed as being as silly as Gimli from LoTR. Thorin especially seems to be more heroic than even Aragorn from LoTR. Of course, it's just a trailer. Also, seeing dwarves use weapons other than a hammer or an axe gives them more dimension, in my opinion.

Plus, I know from the story that there's no "save the world" nonsense; it's a good 'ol treasure hunt. More interesting than all the "nobility and honor" flapdoodle that the LoTR push.

Dwarves? They're a core race right? Sounds boring... I'd rather play something from some obscure 3rd party release.

(joke)
