The horror that will be known as "Alien Vs. Predator"

Did anyone else read the Alien 3 script by William Gibson? That's how the alien-franchise should have continued. He even got rid of Ripley without killing her and made Hicks (Michael Biehn) the hero instead.
Sadly Biehn was otherwise engaged so they scrapped the script. I think it's still out there and makes for a pretty good read.

Henriksen Leaks AvP Hints

Lance Henriksen, who plays a key role in the upcoming Alien vs. Predator movie, revealed to Fangoria magazine that his character will have a link with the original Alien movie franchise. In the second film, James Cameron's Aliens, Henriksen played the android named Bishop—and his casting in the new movie is no coincidence.

"I don't play Bishop in this movie," Henriksen told the magazine. "I play the man who created him. He's a billionaire and is responsible for taking this expedition to Antarctica, where everything takes place. It's a pretty cool character."

Henriksen plays a character named Weyland, which, as any Alien fan knows, is one of the names on the nefarious Weyland-Yutani Corp., the future conglomerate that is behind the trouble in the first three Alien films. "I can't tell you guys anything else," Henriksen added. "They made me sign not to tell. The thing is, they keep sending me new versions of [the script]. It's going to be a very, very exciting movie. I promise you that. I hope it turns out as good as Aliens."

In the film, which is set to begin production in Prague, a team of scientists discovers an ancient pyramid in Antarctica and also find two heretofore unknown extraterrestrial species. Ultimately, they find themselves trapped in a war between the two species.

Now, I think that setting it in Antarctica is a cool idea, I also have a problem with the fact that it ignores the events of the previous Alien movies. This is especially irritating because they could just as easily have said that something survived the crash at the end of Alien 4. Perhapse a previously undetected Alien was stowing away on the bottom of the craft and let go in high orbit and somehow didn't end up as bug splat during re-entry. Maybe the mega corp actually succeeded in bringing a queen to Earth. Whatever they go with, simply having a queen frozen for eons in Antarctica is weak. Reall, really, weak.

On the other hand, I have an enormous amount of respect for Lance Henriksen. I would pay to go see a sucky movie just because it has him in it (which I might very well end up doing, it looks like).

Oh boy I can't wait......... wait yes I can that sounds stupid. Why don't they just do Aliens vs. Predator vs. Freddy vs. Jason, they could set that in a pyramid in Antartica too.

re we going to see Antartic meltdown too? What happened to all that stuff about Predators coming during the HOTTEST years...

However, isn't this written as a prequel to Alien 1, but following the events of the Predator movies? The plot as described would make some vague sense then.

It would also give a more detailed explanation of why the predator-race was on Earth in the first place, and why Weyland was so interested in acquiring a Xenomorph in the first place In Alien 3.

I'm holding judgement at this point. The described plot would suck as a sequel, but as an "in-between" plot-hole filler, it could work.

I might actually care what this guy has to say if not for this the stupidest quote I have ever read about a movie:

While I’m a fan of the first PREDATOR film, I’ve never really felt that the title was worthy of the franchise.

AKA I like the whole Predator concept but don't like the movie that introduced the Predator concept. Huh? Does anyone elses brain hurt after reading this babble?

I will save my opinions for the actual movie.
