Raijin endures the poison of the demonling and attempts to close the nearby portal. It shuts with a abyssal blur and he wipes his brow, smearing his makeup. Ignoring the small creature near him, he climbs down the cliff and heads toward the larger portal. We must succeed, it seems that progress impedes the demon's emergence.

Mab keeps up her counterspinning hand motion, but the proximity of the spinetails makes her nervous and breaks her concentration. The voice prompting her with magic words seems farther away and harder to hear. "Let's see, how did that go again? Fee, fye, fiddle-di-dee? Foe, fum, foodle-di-doo? No, that's not right!," the old woman whispers in frustration. "Uh, oh... it's coming through! Well, better safe than sorry," she whispers as she reluctantly moves farther from the portal, skirting around the rocks and into the cover of some overhanging foliage to conceal herself from the emerging brute's abyssal gaze.

Xander aids mab with the portal while calling down holy fire upon the closest enemy.

OK I am not sure who is where and which baddies are still around, but Xander will aid Mab (minor) and call down Sacred Flame on the closest enemy - Ironsky if that does not work then just NPC.

Minor = Aid Mab; 1d20+6=26 - critical aid another!
Standard = Sacred Flame; 1d20+7=16 vs someone's Reflex. If it hits, 1d6+4=5 damage & somebody can either gain 3 temp hit points or make a saving throw.
Move = to a safer place if possible..

The Hunted: Demons Rifts, Round 7

The newest demonling leaps impossibly high, soaring over the rocks to tear at Devinihm, but can't seem to land a solid hit on the swarming insectoid constituency that is Devinihm.

The spinetail seems to sense the danger if it leaves the sparkling, shimmering area Illarion created and circles it, waiting for it to fade.

Unfortunately, the huge demon manages to make its way into the world, tearing its way into the world with a victorious roar.

At least no other demons emerge... for now.

GM: Raijin also has to make an Athletics check to avoid falling when he takes his ongoing damage since he's climbing, I'll call that his original check. This is the one to climb down the cliff: 1d20+6=9, fail by 5+, falls 3 squares, takes 1d10=9 damage and prone.

Also, I forgot to mention it(double checking my notes for this encounter), but to aid another to close the portal, you must be within range of the portal(I.E. Adjacent to a small one or within 3 of the large one). That mean's Raijin can't aid(do to being prone from falling) and Mab's check fails even with Xander's assist.

Gave Xander's THP to Raijin.

OOC: if the horned demon cannot act this round, move instead of shift to avoid OA from demonling and move further away

Illarion quickly moves away from hulking beast and pulls together last threads of closing portal swarming around the hulking form. They form into a short-lived fangs and even short outline of the great draconing head chomping down on the beast.

OOC: don't want to force retcon but since Raijin falls at the start of his turn due to ongoing, where is he? I guess where he is just means we switch up the Athletics checks.
Move: Stand up
Standard: Stormwalk on big guy, realized I can't shift on difficult terrain
Minor: Aid another Mab (might be too far away, but didn't matter!)


Raijin stands up and begins to arc lightning. Thunder rumbles out and he moves in on the demon and portal.

Unwilling to move any nearer to the hulking demon, and unable to remember any of the fey words that echoed in her head a moment ago, Mab instead beckons the Hand of Salzacas to aid her. Whizzing toward the large portal, the Hand's fingers dance in a flurry of arcane gestures that begin to unravel the strands that anchor the portal in this reality.

Earth moves next to the new huge threat and pins it down with a good aimed sweeping hit. Earth's voice sounded in the groups' minds. "Close the portal, I'll hold down the beast. Quickly, no more demons must taint this lands." he calls out.

Actions:
Move: to D 12
Stdrd:Hit Horned demon for 17 hp, and it's slowed until Earth's next round.
Free: Mark him
Minor: Breach guantlets: Horned demon is vulnerable 5 to the next hit before the end of Earth's next round.
