Actually, this is one of those items where the difference between "base price" and "market price" becomes important. The market price of a Tome is largely due to the surcharge for the XP cost for the wishes.Hypersmurf said:

Still, using the scrolls directly would be a better option.

Hey, I guess I'll revive this thread just long enough to point out Monte Cook's reading of the new 3.5E DMG (from here: http://www.montecook.com/review.html )
It's interesting to see that here he admits that's the rule in the DMG, and not just a mis-reading of the definition of "Caster Level".

Might I suggest that those of you who hate the DMG item creation rules (either because you don't understand then, or hate them), you should consider picking up Mystic Eye Games' Artificer's Handbook. It should be in stores shortly, and will be available at GenCon.
