The Jade Frontier (DM: Ukingsken, Judge: Lord Sessadore)

[sblock=ooc]I'm here, just waiting for the scenes already started to finish. I missed most of the beginning of this and don't really see a good way to jump in the middle without trying to explain away where I been this whole time. I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that Shayla just turned in early for the night or something(8 Constitution and 2 days of walking, that's actually pretty likely)[/sblock]

OOC: [sblock] I'm in just about the same boat- I missed the start of the two ongoing scenes, and didn't want to dive into somebody else's scene. I'm still around though. [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Sorry guys if you've been waiting around for me. had my partners birthday this weekend; the organising took up a fair bit of my time, and it's not quite over yet! There's a big carnival in town in about 1/2 an hour. But I shall definately be back online this evening and i promise to post something substantial. Pathfindaer, Malanore; would you like Chey to wake your charaters and get them involved? Her and Patronis are certainly panicked and would probably get comfort from greater numbers after that freaky encounter.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] you'd never be stealing thunder, if you wanna join in on any scene I'll accomadate! And I'm mostly waiting on bricks right now, although there are places the other group could conceivably go as well.[/sblock]

Cheysuli Sage

With Patronis folded in her arms; and the aura of evil still tangible in the air around her, Chey changes her tact. She set Patronis before her with a reasurring, yet stern look upon her face. "Patronis, you must not let this weaken your resolve to do good in the world. This fiend may well have ties to you, but he does not own you outright. We are all masters of our own fates in this life; gods and demons can influence us, but not control us outright!"

Her eyes gleam with surety as she looks him straight in the eye. "What say we rouse the other that are here and see if we cannot; with our combined effort, track down where this sending originated from? I have a feeling that this fell creature that assailed you is linked in some fashion to our mission here... Perhaps we can even turn your connection to the demon to our advantage."

Once Cheysuli is assured that leaving him for a moment won't dissipate the calm she has instilled in Patronis, she heads up the stairs and wakes Shayla and Miranna up with a small shake. "Sorry to wake you after such a long day, but something (quite a scarey something let me tell you!) has just happened to Patronis, Shayla, as a priest you may be able to track the demon's sending."

Once she is sure that their eyes are open and they have registered what she has said, Chey quicky returns down the stairs and fills a kettle to brew some energising Shenae Bark tea from her pack to sharpen the groups senses. As she stirs the dried bark fragments into the water she wonders what Brenwar and Mr. Bricks are up to.

"I'm fine Chey.. I assure you of that... this is nothing compared to what I've been through thus far... I just cringe when I think this is linked somehow to my past and only makes me more agreeable to stopping this before it gets worse... the warlock says as he clears his throat and stands... Yes lets see if we can't track the source of the magical sending and find the place these magics reside in.... Patronis adds as he looks about to the rest she is waking....

Shayla can sense a palpable wrongness still clinging to Patronis skin, to the point where its mildly uncomfortable to stand too close to him for the first few minutes after they rouse her.

[sblock=ooc]sorry for the late post, checked in early yesterday and really late today, will be pretty late tomorrow too when I can get back to checking again. Busy week[/sblock]

Shayla wakes up confused as to the words Cheysuli is telling her. She seemed to be off on two different tangents. One about Patronis and one about a demon. This confusion lasts until she get's downstairs and confronted by the aura spilling off of Patronis.

Shayla takes a step back when confronted by a man who exudes death, terror and fear from his very skin.

Shayla eyes him for a few moments to make sure he's not trying to decide when to strike at them. Then starts talking rather slowly and calmly "I know little of warlocks other than that the make pacts with various forces, but I'm guessing this isn't normal." Looking only at Patronis and trying to gauge his reaction as she asks the question she continues "What exactly happened here. Don't leave anything out. Especially anything you may have felt, or were familiar with about the experience. I need to know what were dealing with if I'm going to attempt to follow it's trail."

The words of the Magus who sent this group out quickly filter back into Shayla's mind "But beware the tide of shadows, it creeps slowly, slides into your mind, twisting and coiling like a snake until you do not remember a time without it." Perhaps the Oni are to blame for this.

Miranna awoke even more slowly than Shayla had- the physical and mental stresses of their very long day had worn on her, and she had retired to her bedroll as soon as the group settled into their lodgings, intent on getting a full night's sleep. At Cheysuli's mention of a demon, she reached instinctively for her sword, but she was visibly groggy and sluggish.

Her arcane training let her know something was wrong- there seemed to be no immediate threat, but once she was awake she began to prowl the room warily, as if expecting the shadowy corners to spit forth some kind of unnatural foe. While she didn't speak, she seemed to be listening keenly to Shayla's questions, and to any response.

(If someone else wants to recap that'd be great otherwise I'm gonna handwave it LOL... I'm toooo tired to repost all that's happened LOL)

Patronis recants what he can remember of his possession... some few seconds here and there are missing from his complete recollection of what was said through him... more than likely due to the connection between he and the demonic take over being too powerful for his psyche to handle and blacking out.... soon after his recant he sat down once more.... just going over the information was overwhelming and he needed to catch his whits once more..... he was visibly shaken still but trying to push it back and stay strong in front of three women....

Cheysuli allows Patronis to finish before she fills in any gaps; she tells Shayla and Miranna her version of the events trying her hardest to include everything she heard, saw and felt during the encounter.

"... All i could gleam from the arcane residue was that this demon shares somethings in common with Zal' Ekthees; be it his intentions or his methods, i'm not sure."
