The Jade Frontier (DM: Ukingsken, Judge: Lord Sessadore)

Seeing the Dragonshield falls gives Yishim renewed courage. He works his way back from the Slinger, and unleashes a bolt of phantasmic energy towards that opponent. Again, his aim is not true, and the slinger artfully dodges the bolt.

Arrrggghhh! Stay still, you miserable thing!

Brenwar moves to flank the kobold all the while praying to Palladys for power to vanquish the creature. As Brenwar approaches a small silver owl flits around the kobold momentarily distracting it as Brenwar's hammer glowing with white light smashes into its light frame.

Out of interest, what is Use Rope under now?

I think it's been reduced to "whatever the DM says it is". Thievery is probably the closest choice, since that's the skill that focuses on manipulating inanimate objects. It was Dex-based in 3.x, right?[/sblock]

Firete's spell and Brenwar's hammer both drop their respective targets. For the moment, the only sound you hear is that of running water.

Cheysuli Sage

[sblock=If enemies remain]Eager for the quick skirmish (that she and her party are winning by a landslide!) to be over, Cheysuli summons forth yet more eldritch energies. Now out in the open; and not surrounded by shadows for the first time since the fight began, her strange earrings catch the attention of onlookers. As her fist fills with green faerie fire, the earrings pulse with a ghostly red light that subsides once she launches the eldritch bolt at the nearest remaining kobold.

Actions: Standard :ranged:Eldritch Blast (1d20+4 = 21 vs. Ref; 1d10+4 = 8 damage)[/sblock]

Satisfied that the fight is over; for a little while at least, Cheysuli's battle visage drops, leaving the over-energetic and giddy girl in her place. She rushes over to Miranna and Firete; "Do you need some help stringing this guy up? Oh that was an amazing fight don't you think? I know Yishim here got into a bit of a scrape, but nothing our stout-hearted Shayla could not fix! We were all over those damnable creatures, but there is undoubtedly more of them behind that waterfall, I would not be surprised if there was some sort of cave network."
Chey continues to jibber on as she helps the others securely tie up the Dragonshield, when that task is done, she walks over to the stone circle and kneels in prayer for a moment to the spirits of this forest that have obviously been looking out for them.

Actions: Thievery assist roll 1d20+1=12.

With the last visible foes taken care of, Miranna quickly moved to disarm the dragonshield. With Cheysuli's help, it was the work of moments to bind the beast, but Miranna's raspy voice harshly interrupted the feylock's verbosity.

"No time for talk. That slinger was shouting like it was trying to warn somebody. Either the lair is close, or there are other sentries hidden. We need to take this fellow and back off, to question him. We can't stay here for their reinforcements to fall upon us..." With that, she sheathed her own sword and grabbed the dragonshield. "Let's get moving."

OOC: Let us move back a bit- at least a few hundred yards from the battlefield. No time for a short rest either, at least not here. Who knows what might be coming in response to the warning the slinger was able to give. At least with the new PCs added, we might actually have someone who speaks Draconic...

Brenwar talks as he searches the bodies, "I think we worked very well together in that fight and Palladys truly blessed us. However, I don't think we should get over confident since as you say there are most likely many more kobolds in the area."

Brenwar nods after Miranna speaks, "I agree we should go learn what we can and then come back with a solid plan of action."

[sblock=OOC] Quickly searching the bodies and moving back with the group. Assuming I get to spend a short rest I will heal myself by spending one surge to max me out[/sblock]

Still a little frustrated at his lackluster performance, Yishim walks over to Shayla.
Shayla, you saved me several times in this battle, not least when you healed the spear wound in my side. I owe you one. Can I ask another b0on of you? I'm still a little wounded; could you call on your deity to strengthen me again?
[sblock=Short rest]Asking Shayla for another healing word to trigger a healing surge with a bonus, but only if we're going to get a short rest as we back off from the waterfall. If we're not getting a short rest, I'll either have to live with it or ask Brenwar for a lay on hands.[/sblock]
If we have 10 or 15 minutes, I can cast a ritual to aid our communication with the Kobold. Although I should be able to understand their speech, I won't be able to speak their language. You should decide. Yishim looks to the others for guidance on whether to start.
[sblock=If we cast the ritual]
[sblock=OOC]I'll go and edit my character sheet to use up the 10 arcana components, and ask Firete to aid me in the casting. Without Firete's aid: Arcana roll for comprehend language ritual (1d20+9=27). Where was that during battle?[/sblock]Yishim gathers a variety of strange objects, tiny gems and what appears to be vials of fairy dust from his pack, and begins chanting in a strange tongue. After 10 minutes, he stops, and listens to what the dragonshield has to say once the others revive the creature.[/sblock]
