The Jade Frontier (DM: Ukingsken, Judge: Lord Sessadore)

[sblock=ooc]You used Divine Challenge on a new target, which wipes any previous Challenges.

You can level up after you finish the kobold lair arc, which is very close to completion.[/sblock]

OOC: Either way is good for me. Brenwar and Miranna can trade off marking the poor chump, while everybody else pours ranged attacks into him- and he doesn't have that many HP. If there are no reinforcements quick, he ought to drop pretty fast. Miranna will stick with Booming Blade attacks to prevent him from moving away too much.

OOC 2: Once he drops, we really need a short rest, at least. If everyone else wants to explore this area after that, Miranna will stay with the group. And once we're done with the exploration, we can find someplace to camp and begin our leveling-up.

[sblock=My Vote]I say fast forward too; if only because we've all used our encounters & daily and it would just be number grinding. I agree that we should have a short rest before exploring the cave.[/sblock]
[sblock=Rapida]You may as well start updating your sheet now; there is a hard copy elsewhere in the wiki that will stay lvl 1 until your level up is approved which will take a few days to a week. I've already levelled up and submitted Chey, i took jack of all trades so Chey can step into Mr. Bricks shoes (partially anyway) as the sneaky, lock-picking member of the bunch.[/sblock]

The remaining kobold quickly drops to a flurry of attacks. The cave is very quiet, excepting, of course, the sound of the waterfall behind you. If there are any kobolds left, they're either hiding or have ran away.

[sblock=You win!]Firete (9/28, bloodied)
Cheysuli (21/26)
Miranna (9/29
, bloodied)
Brenwar (21/29)
Yishim (18/22)

I would just like to reiterate how lucky you guys were against the Emissary. If any of your attacks against him had missed, or even dealt just one point less damage, he would have survived another round.

[sblock=If you search the bodies]The kobolds have nothing of value. The Emissary's weapon and armor are quite ornate, and will probably sell for a decent amount, but they are not magical. He is also carrying a small silver key and a scroll.

[sblock=If you read the scroll]My spy in Maoleth suggests we keep an eye out for visitors to the area. It probably does not matter. In a few more days, the rift will be opened. Maoleth’s people will serve as food for those Zal'Ekthees sends to do my bidding.

[sblock=If you search the cave]You see clear evidence that the kobolds have been using this place as a staging area for some time. There are supplies that have almost certainly been stolen from merchant caravans and the like, as well as predictably filthy bedding. There are also several shackles that have been embedded in the cave's walls. But there is nobody here, kobold or captive. Comparing the living space with the amount of kobolds you've encountered over the last few days, you would guess that you have slain nearly all the previous occupants of this cave.

There are also slightly superior living quarters, where you would guess the Emissary slept. In addition to better bedding than wet straw, there is also a locked chest.

ooc: The chest can be opened with a small silver key or a DC 15 Thievery check.
[sblock=If you open the chest]There are a number of valuables here. The first is a jade rod with gold inlays that has been sculpted to look like a serpentine dragon. The second is a longsword with a slightly blueish tint to its blade. The first person to touch pulls back reflexively as he or she is shocked by static discharge. The chest also contains a potion with a bottle and label nearly identical to the one in Chey's possesion, as well as a considerable amount of gold.
[sblock=Translation]Vicious Rod +1, Lightning Longsword +1, Healing potion, 230 gold.

Nested sblocks are fun, but please use them responsibly and remember to close them when you're done.[/sblock][/sblock][/sblock]

By Hogwart's outhouses, what an epic battle! Firete, Miranna, please rest while we search the remainder of this cavern.. Yishim searches bodies & rooms while the wounded rest. He brings the loot over. I'll leave you to divvy up the spoils, though some is obvious. Careful, Miranna, it stings. He hands the sword to Miranna and the Rod to Chey. Yishim splits the gold evenly among the party (46 each).

Now then - who is the spy in Maoleth, who is the Shadowed One, and who is Zal'Ekthees? What a mystery we've uncovered. I suggest we return to Maoleth and see if we can't flush the spy out of hiding. Perhaps in our report we can pretend to have found a coded message which should identify the spy... and let him come to us!

OOC: Short rest- spend enough surges to get as close as possible to full HP (Firete's Song of rest makes a difference, if it is used). Then search the cave- and find interesting things...

IC: Once the battle was over, Miranna took some time to tie up the worst of her wounds, bathing the cuts in water from the waterfall. She worked quickly, though, just in case there were more kobolds lurking about. In fact, though, it seemed that they had dealt with this band of lizardy bandits...

As they searched the caves, she remained cautious, her sword ready in hand- but no more threats revealed themselves. Finally, the search was complete, and they could settle down to taking stock of what they had found or learned.

"We must get back to town and find this spy. Hopefully Shayla will not be taken in once she returns... I think though, that we have had a long tough day. We ought to camp, then make our way back to town in the morning."

OOC: Extended rest? Miranna sure would like that longsword- but she already has the fingerbone necklace. It would feel greedy to have both- anyone want a necklace made of fingers?
