The Jade Frontier (DM: Ukingsken, Judge: Lord Sessadore)

Cheysuli Sage

Cheysuli squeaks with surprised delight, "Ooo, this is going to be more fun than I thought!"
She sets off after the trail of flame with gusto before remembering her companions; she looks back at them over her shoulder, "You lot coming?"

Shayla stares at the exaggerated display of magic for a second then leans over to Patronis as Cheysuli had already taken off following the flame. "You think a full blown butler might have been cheaper?"

Not waiting long for an answer Shayla enters the tower mindful not to touch anything but careful to take note of everything she sees as she follows Cheysuli and the flame up 15 full flights of stairs.

[sblock=ooc]is there a consolidated list somewhere of what's approved and what's not? I've noticed proposal threads and with Divine Power now out I've started taking a look at stuff from that and PHB2. I know Divine Power is going to take a minimum of 3 months to be proposed but I'd like to see what all is available to play as a PC, dragon issues, books that have been approved and the specific things that have been ruled not allowed from those books, monster races (I've seen some using over sized superior weapons, my god that's sick) etc.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] With a perception roll like that you'll see through walls![/sblock]

As you walk up the stairs after the flame you are greeted by floor after floor of arcane reagents and apparatus. Throughout the tower the flame motif is repeated again and again, one floor seemingly composed entirely of flames frozen in place by magic. As you reach the designated floor and proceed down the hallway after the flame the voice calls out once again, this time from down the hall.

Quickly now, my time is too valuable to waste on dawdling adventurers. By writ of the Shogun or not, I will not be delayed.

Stepping into the room you see a tall, lanky man cloaked in living flame. He stands across the room working away at a workbench, a book on a stand next to him. Without turning he speaks once more.

Well you're here, what can I do for you? Kiro has asked that I help, although he did not think to offer any specifics.

Brenwar seems startled by the cloak of flame, but quickly remembers why they've come, "We were told that you would be able to tell us more of the kobolds in the surrounding countryside. Specifically where we could find their lairs."

Yes yes, they're north of her. In the foothills. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

He continues his work never once turning. After several moments of silence he pauses.

Was there something else?

As he speaks the short, rust colored hair on top of his head begins to undulate, moving in time with the flames of his cloak.

[sblock=OOC]Hey everyone, it's good to be back; though with EN's recent performance i don't know how long it'll last :oS[/sblock]

"Well, actually yes; though Lord Hashtesh doesn't give our concerns much credence, some of us are quite worried that there is more going on around here than meets the eye, and a recent demonic visit only fuels our worries!" Chey drops what she hopes is bait to the incendiary scholar's curiosity into the conversation. "We were hoping that you would be able to shed some light on what is looking like quite a dark history that may be attempting to repeat itself."

[sblock=OOC]A heads up for everyone: I'm getting married on the 9th of August. So, I'll have limited internet access from the 6th to the 8th, and absolutely no access from the 9th to the 15th while we're on our honeymoon ;)

You guys stay out of trouble while I'm gone, and have fun :)[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] You stay out of trouble on your honeymoon.. On second thought have a blast and get in all kinds! Where are you going? Somewhere exciting?[/sblock]

Demons you say? What ever could you be talking about? For the first time he turns to face you. Valthun is an old man of obvious Genasi stock, his skin a ruddy red brown. His hair dances in time with the flames on his cloak and his flesh is covered in small wrinkles especially at the corners of his eyes. His gaze is unwavering, and pierces you like staring into the center of an inferno.

There have been no demons here since Shadraxil was slain. And before that it was centuries, back when the keep still stood. But that ruin has been deserted since before I was born. Whatever could you be talking about, pretty thing.

He turns his gaze on Cheysuli, evaluating her response.
