The Jade Frontier, part 2 (DM: THB, Judge: Lord Sessadore)

[sblock=Why whisper?]You know, you could try just speaking Elven to each other. May as well get some benefit out of you all speaking the same language.[/sblock]

"He seems to have been honest thus far. I vote we release him with a warning not to betray us or to bother any of the local people," Brenwar says in Elven.

Well, it seems to be settled then, Firete says in Eladrin. Chey, since you have the most influence with Rivith, why don't you give him the news and we can be on our way.

[sblock=OOC]Can't help the emphasis, guys, since Elven=Eladrin in this setting[/sblock]

Chey nods and turns to the albino "Effort itself is the first step on a different path Rivith. We will let you go in exchange for your promise that you will not betray our presence here, and that you will leave this vale and its people. Personally I believe that if you grasp this opportunity for change the Spirits will smile on you, you carry their mark and if you seek to better yourself your life will be nothing like you imagined it could."

[sblock=OOC]I'm really intrigued by Rivith, in the distant future, when I have the levels, I wouldn't mind making him up as my 3rd PC.[/sblock]

"Understood. It has my promise." He begins to walk away, but stops at the door. "There is a secret passage from the eastern hallway to the chief's former quarters. Do not know exactly where, but know it exists. Also, warning." He lays a hand against the wall. "Stone has long memory. Remembers what has happened. Do not know the history, but can tell it was... unpleasant. Good luck." At that, Rivith walks through the door and down the hall to the entrance.

How very curious, remarks Firete when Rivith had gone. Stone may have memories, as he said, but it usually lacks a voice to speak with. Should we continue on, now?

[sblock=Fatigue inquiry]Have to ask this again as I think it is rather late at night and we haven't rested. We still okay?[/sblock]

[sblock=fatigue, hunger, encumbrance, heck, even light]All of these fall under the category of things I only track when I think it's important to the story. So light is important now because I'm trying to put forward a sort of claustrophobic creepy feel (which is lessened somewhat by sunrods), but otherwise I might have had there be torches along the wall. Hunger and rations would be an issue if you were trekking through the desert, but right now you're in no danger of starving. So no, fatigue isn't going to be a factor. At least, not for the next few battles. I'll let you know when things change, don't worry. That being said, in this case you could have your healing surges represent your energy level, and when you run out it represents you being too exhausted to keep fighting.[/sblock]

Miranna followed the hobgoblin as far as the entrance, and stood there for a time (until he was out of sight, at least- presuming that he does, in fact, leave). Then she returned to the group.

"Maybe we ought to search that storeroom he mentioned," she rasped. "Then, I think, the chief's quarters- if his new lieutenant is really there, he might have more useful information..."
