Brenwar lands with a loud clatter of metal plates. Raising his shield and standing cautiously he keeps his eyes on the spectral creatures. He manages a half hearted swing at the larger one, which it easily flits past. "Urghh, this much armor doesn't make it easy to jump back to one's feet."

Miranna rolled quickly back to her feet, and took another swing at the ghostly captain. The air seemed to rumble around her, but her swing seemed to pass through the apparition without effect.

Smiling gratefully at Yishim's attack, Firete rounded on the remaining ghost in front of her. Her attack managing to penetrate the ghosts defences, felling him.

She then turned to see Chey lying bleeding on the ground and murmured a few words of healing.

These portals, they need to be destroyed! She shouts to the others. Do you need my help, or will you be fine for me to attempt this?

Katana, unfortunately you forgot the -50% to damage from insubstantial, so SL is still alive (sort of) of 5hp.//


Chey steadies her footing and releases another blast of fayrie fire at the nearest legionnaire, but her rod splutters and groans and the blast flies wide, missing her target completely. The tiefling girls screams in frustration, you get the impression that she is on the verge of tears.

Nah, you can use powers against sarcophagi. However, they have 100 hp, AC 18, other defenses 16*, and 5 resist all. They are also immune to psychic damage and probably most types of forced movement. Destroying a sarcophagus will stop conscripts from popping from it, but I promise you there's an easier way.[/sblock]

A new pair of specters emerge from the western sarcophagi.

The two captains turn to those who have challenged them. In silent unison they hack and hew their targets, leaving Brenwar and Miranna badly injured.

The lesser shades quickly join the fray, wounding Firete and Yishim with their spectral weapons.

Another ghost appears on the eastern end of the hall, slowly drifting from the northern alcove to the southern one. This one resembles a young girl, although the details of her features are concealed by the ethereal shroud she's wearing. She also seems to be holding a ceremonial incense burner. If she notices the battle, she doesn't show it.

Legionnaire 62 does not recharge Wave of Shadows, so it crosses its spectral fingers and attacks Brenwar. Praise Zal'Ekthees, that's a hit! Barely. Brenwar takes 11 damage and is bloodied.

Legionnaire 94 attacks Miranna, hitting AC 22 for 9 damage. Miranna is bloodied. Hooray for Brutes. They may not hit every turn, but when they do, you feel it.

Conscript 15 charges Firete, Conscript 61 charges Yishim. Conscript 93 attacks Brenwar. Hit, hit, miss, 4 damage to Firete and Yishim.[/sblock]

Yishim turns and again claps his hands. This time both ghosts in front of him are crushed by the attack, even as the one nearest to Firete is unharmed. Now let's see if we still see the sarcophagi unleashing terrors upon us.

"Keep pushing east- let's get out of this narrow space," Miranna rasped. As she spoke, she spun her sword through a complicated series of movements, distracting her enemies and giving her a moment to catch her breath.

Another soul returned to the cycle, and another jaunt into Arcadia. Cheysuli emerges from the stone floor of the crypt on the other side of Firete with her rod at the ready.
The spry warlock hops back a step, "You must join your brethren, I will free you from your stagnancy!" she hisses as her implement errupts.
This time the fates smile and Chey once more skips between this world and that fuelled by the soul's passing. A rivulet of dirt and small stones weave their way between Yishim and Brenwar's feet, coalescing back into the purple haired girl on the far side of the conflict.

Chey tries to focus on the girl-figment wanting to drink in every detail about her, what is she, who is she?
