The Land of the Seven Realms: Opening Moves

OoC:Damn those Elvish Ears!

IC: lightly tapping his companions under the table, Sparrow nods towards the people inquiring about them.'Someone asks about Kythraen adventurers, and they look to us.' Then, nonchalantly, the roadweary <and rather smelly at this point, I would imagine> Roadwalker sips his ale again.

OoC: Did we reieve any of the 200GP that was offered to us, or is that at mission's end...? A few coins for a bath would be quite nice, since some of us are obsessed with spending on minutae...and we rarely have left over cash @ character creation<points at self>.

OOC: 100 gp was given up front, since all those from the Kyth group are known and reasonably trusted adventurers, with a history of serving the Crown.

Seating himself, he quickly orders a good wine, and once the woman goes to get it, says, quietly, "So, Turik, which of these adventurers seems like they'd come from Kythraen, to you?"

"The motley crew. People of Kythraen don't have the good breeding to know to keep to their own kind." Turik responds.

Taem does his best to pretend not to notice the three figures, hoping that the gloom will improve what he knows will not be a stellar attempt at deception. I had best inform those men that they are likely being followed he thinks, his first instinct being that of a Taem, making sure that the two men are not killed as they try to leave the inn. He enters and closes the door behind him, closing the latch if there is one. He scans the room, and his eye quickly finds the men who had just entered. He strides over, his simple clothes billowing slightly with his graceful movements. He reaches the two noblemen's table and bows from the neck.

"Good evening, gentlemen. I trust that you are well?"

Small talk and stew...- Tragus

It seemed that Sparrow was as observant as ever, as it was not but a few heartbeats later that they were approached by one of the guests of the bar. Tragus nodded his head in greeting, and was pleased that the man knew to properly address a dwarf in their native tongue before switching to the trade tongue used through the realms.

<<Dwarven>>"Tis not a bad brew t' be found on the road, but it would feel the hit o' the tap back home."

Not wanting to be rude to his elvish companion, Tragus was about to swith the conversation to one they could all share as more strangers entered into the bar.

Glancing once at them, and once at the stew before him that the innkeeper had just placed before them, the choice was an easy one for Tragus.

Breaking the bread easily, Tragus dipped it into the thick stew and savored the first bite. He was about to comment on the fine taste to Sparrow, but the elf's eyes seemed to be looking through him and out into the bar.

~Elf gets spooked easier than a priestess on a hay ride...Must be all the time in the woods...~

Taking another bite of the stew, Tragus realized that his guest was without anything to eat. Feeling bad for momentarily losing his manners, Tragus wiped his mouth with a bit of cloth and offered his hand to the stranger.

"Sorry about that, but the road's been long and rations quickly lose their luster when there be real food t' be had. The name is Tragus, and my companion here be Sparrow. However, don't let the name fool you, as I'd bet me beard there isn't a better hunter to be found in a hundred miles."

Sparrow nods a greeting to the newcomer.
Pulling forth a gold coin, and looking at it rather like someone looks at a tick that one had just found on one's neck, the elf places it on the table, signalingfor the Innkeeper/Wench/Serving Person to bring another stew and ale.In Tradetounge, he says
'Forgive my rudeness at not introducing myself as well, friend. I am Sparrow, a Hunter and Guide. Please join us, for as my companion here said, the stew is excellent and dinner conversation would be welcome.' The elf smiles warmly, though his mind seems elsewhere, the stew and conversation taking a back seat to his observation of the room.

OOC: Can we choose one tense? I'm not too averse to either past or present tense, but right now we have both of those as well as some future tense, and the story doesn't flow well. I'll vote for past tense though, as it's easiest for most people to write in. </anal writer request>

The door opened behind Kintys, but she ignored it. If it were Taelmaron, she would find out soon enough; it it weren't, whoever it was likely didn't matter much. Unless it was Taem, who she seemed to recall was hanging out on the roof. Strange creature, he.

Kintys approached the blonde and extended her hand. "Good even. I'm Kintys Redstar. You don't look like you're a local, which means you may be just the sort of person I'm looking to talk with. I'm looking for a man named Ian Taelmaron. Have you heard of him?"

OOC: My response to the tense issue is in the OOC thread

Careful to hide his Teladaen accent, Smiles bows and says "How kind! My thanks and well met Tragus and Sparrow. My friends call me Smiles."

Smiles sits down at the table with Tragus and Sparrow. Making an educated guess and hoping to gather more information, he asks, "You look fresh off the front. Which regiment do you call home?"
