D&D 5E (2014) The Light of Civilization - A 5e Renaissance Story [OOC]

Sorry for the delay: Been a combination of illness, a car accident, and crushing work. I'll get caught up on this and we'll go over stuff.

The one thing I saw was a concern over how I get to do "my thing" versus "the players' things".

Taking a big note from 7th Sea here, "your things" are the game. I am totally fine just following PC plotlines and weaving them together rather than forcing you to go find the Fancy Whatsit if the characters' concerns are far more personal.

Well, we fought the pope in a cathedral. When i attempted to deprive him of oxygen via a rear naked choke he revealed himself to actually be a draco-lich.. so yea we ran away after the little girl did a radiant spell and now we're trying to suck wind before trying to find a way out through the catacombs...

I would like to push ahead with this. We have a good cast, we have a good idea of the setting and we have quite a few stories to go with. If we've got the group, I think we can go ahead and start moving forward ICly.

It's alive....

Did we come up with a convergent story line? I know there were some good ideas floating around but don't think we decided on one. How did we all end up together and why?

I think all we NEED right now is some kind of a connection between the 'snobs' and the 'renegades.'

The idea is that the 'snobs' due to Circumstances are obliged to leave their snobbish ways behind and go underground while they try to sort out their situation. They turn to the renegades to help with this. The question at that point becomes...why do they choose these particular renegades? How do they contact them, and then how do they convince them to help?

The last probably doesn't involve money, for mechanical reasons. We'd have to be offering something we can actually make good on. :)

I like the idea of being on the run and if the snobs are accosted around me I would assist immediately thus making me a target as well. My criminal contact could easily have put me in touch with the pirate among us for passage out of here... just brainstorming over here.

Strangely, it feels the "Snobs" could get into much more trouble than the "Renegades" simply because the latter group knows how to avoid trouble. It could very well be that the Renegades need an in into Higher Society (for their personal quests) while the Snobs need a way into Lower Society (for their quests). The two trade the big power of the age: Social Mobility.

Hm yes. That has some potential.

The Snobs are Arcata, the daughter of a relatively minor lord...but still nobility. Our courtier fighter Giovanni, who knows people who know people. The Magdelena, who is an avatar of justice and also whomping evil butts. And I think Pathfinder is making a scholar/bardy type? It's not in the RG yet, but there are posts to that effect.

The Renegades are our pirate king...and no one else has posted a Renegade to the RG but I know there's at least one other one. Lets sound off in here?

I can post mine today maybe. It's a dwarven Battlerager. Ex-criminal and former underground pit fighter. Now he's a hired hand with masonry skills. No personal quest but he is seeking redemption for his past crimes.
