River just posted in another game, I think...

Oops!

For some reason, I feel he could know Arcata. Not entirely sure why, but they do both have a connection to magic they don't understand. And, he could help her learn the peace of mind to control her power. In fact, that could be how they know each other. Perhaps the mages who held her tried to get her to learn discipline by employing a Monk, and that monk was Nicolo, who, at the time, was taking every chance he could to get out of the Monastery. The lessons may not have stuck, but it's a thought. Or something like that.

Sorry, man! I missed this completely!

It's not a bad idea, and more connections is a great idea. The only potential issue is that I think the Guild sages who had Arcata were trying to keep her something of a secret? So there would have had to have been a reason they trusted you with that secret.

Positing: what if Nicolo began his journey before Arcata's introduction into The Guild? Perhaps in his travels, Nicolo stayed at Arcata's family villa or the like for a rest along his way. Something of the sort.

Could work, yeah!

Then it would have been more that she was just interested in your monk weirdness than you were teaching exercises to control POWAH. But perhaps some of the things you talked about with her did help later on...

Hey, works for me. Gives my young newly released monk the opportunity to talk to the cute sorceress in the corner!

We can say he stayed there for a few weeks after leaving the Monastery, until he got his feet under him and figured out what he was doing. Probably, her father took pity on him and helped him along a bit, perhaps just by extending some influence in the city to get him a place to stay. Means he'd be indebted to her father, and that's where he met Arcata.

That would also mean he knew when she was taken, or at least that she disappeared.

The plot thickens!

"How did you miss BOTH of them!?"

"Well you see, mages are very sneaky, and ..."

"Well duh! A wizard did it!"

In other news, I'll get an IC post up tonight or tomorrow AM. Assume that Jilliana was so wrapped up in a point of research that she totally missed what time it was...

So, I'm pretty sure Nicolo has a slight crush on Arcata. Everytime I go to write a post, that's what comes out. I'm an author, so I'm used to my characters going off and doing things I didn't plan, and this more like writing than anything, so I think I'm going to go with it.
