The major changes at WOTC

If there really was someone on the take at WotC, then a change is good news. We don't want the rank & file over there to suffer from a smaller version of what happened at Enron.

True. If the report is true, it would be hard to have a worse leader. It's awfully tough for a company to be profitable when an employee's got their hand in the till.

Hey Pa, there's a lynching goin' on!

The rat bastard should be hung for dipping into the hobby that I have loved since I was a wee little thing...

I wouldn't be too worried about having a businessman now in charge of the business of producing games. To be hoesnt I would rather have it that way. To become a top level exec at Hasbro the guy had to go through some pretty impressive hoops I imagine (assuming his Dad doesn't own the company ;) ).

Now that an actual non-gamer, business-oriented person is in charge I would imagine we will see less delays in product shipment and maybe even an improvement in quality (its got to help not having an exec taking money out of the departments responible for product creation/editting).

All IMO and YMMV :)

Hadn't heard....

What's this about a rumor of someone at WOTC with their hand in the kitty? Hadn't heard that one. Can anyone please expand upon this with any relevant facts or gossip? :D

Allow me to be direct: I now cringe when the strongest praise someone can give an executive is that "he's a businessman".

What was the result from the the last job I worked where a new CEO arrived who was described as "well, he's a businessman"? Approximately 80% staff layoffs before he left after ~2 years.

Obviously, no one here actually knows the new chief, so in any direction we're purely speculating.

all that matters is that the guy lets the people who know how to run the show let them run the show. Let him manage the management and let the management run the people. The less a CEO has impact on the common worker the better off said worker is.

Less management (read overhead) makes a worker more productive and allows them to feel like and individual and not some number...

But WotC has already done this ;). I'm hoping that the CEO just concentrates on getting the management to 'manage' the staff and get the products out the door and making money. Of course that could backfire and we see even more errors and rules goofs as unfinshed product is shoved out the door in a effort to get some cash for it right away. That way lies madness (and TSR...)

But that's what were all so good at! :D. But you are right of course - no one here can say they know anything about the new guy yet. Hopefully he will turn out to be a tolerable king - if not we'll ride him outta here on a rail!! :)

.

I find it ironic that we the consumers have been putting up with astronomical prices, and poor quality (29.99 for lords of Darkness and its a soft cover book) Vaporware products (Master tools, nope E tools nope...download maybe? nope lets wait awhile longer.) Not to mention some of the attitudes thats been given by ceratin WOTC employees. And all this time several of thesee shining stars of humanity have been socking away ill gotten gains, and screwing us the consumer. Its a far cry from the heart wrenching "Save D&D" speech we heard a couple years back. Things have basically been going down hill since the comapny was sold off to Hasborg. Personally I'm just waiting for the next big WOTC fiasco.
