Wow! I didn't know the streets there were so... regular!
Is that really the kind of buildings we'd be able to have? I thought the area would be all big buildings multistory high and a few shops long kinda thing, not house-like things with... are those trees around La Fiamma? lol! :)

Umm... whatchya going to do if more than one business share a block side?

I'm sure the streets are a bit more, interesting in reality. But sometimes, one goes for simplicity. The streets curve slightly around Manhattan Island. The actual map has everything tilted at an angle.
nyc.txt

The buildings are like personal shops and businesses. The ariel view shows the rooftops, which can look like, well anything a person wants them to look like from above.

If people really want skyscrapers, my map tool includes some. *shrugs*

La Flamma, in my mind at least, is depicted as a smaller building, with tables and chairs, for an open air cafe. The circles would be like little parasols over the tables, kinda like you would see in France. Trees, would be green.

If businesses end up sharing.. well I'll adjust accordingly.

As I said earlier. The buildings are not to scale with the roads. The buildings would be teeny and tiny, and would lack any distinction what-so-ever. By making them larger than would be in normal proportion, I am hoping to show them off better.

Well no offense guys but I'm not going to bother making any more appologies for the lateness. Namely because it sure as hell ain't all on my shoulders and I'm sick of feeling like it is. There have been tasks which took priority within the staff and site, there's been people waiting on info which didn't come and there's been the occasional link which simply slipped and things had to be repassed.

Yeah, sometimes it would really help if everyone were in offices in the same building... but then again we'd probably drive each other so nuts that it's be considered degrading to the neighbourhood. :P

In the meanwhile, I know damn well this isn't what some people want to hear but there's actually no reason why those who wish to can't go ahead and play, without waiting for the set room or set board.

Donny, the map has had a great start. I've really got to laugh about how close that cop shop is, I had completely forgotten about its location. And the subway bits will be very handy. Only one sugestion - seeing as the map is no longer north-south aligned as most people would be accustomed, would it be any trouble to put a compass reference cross on it somewhere?
I was going to scan a rough sketch of the floorplan for you but I forgot  and I don't have a scanner or camera at home. I can pass you the description files though. It'll be waiting on the email you have your boards name set to.

Groovy Groovy Pou..

Sorry it's 4am.

Someone lend a hand, which direction is which on that map? I'm so bad at geography.

And I'll get started on floor plans. Mmmm.. floor plans.

It looks to me as if that map is properly oriented. That is, the streets are actually at angles like that in relation to true north, which would be toward the top of the map.

Also, the arrows along the streets most likely denote one-way traffic. "Can't make a left turn here, Mac. Gotta take it around the block."

just currious, but I didn't relise that 2nd and 116 were two major streets. One I can deal with, but 2 is a little... public for my mental picture. Any problem with getting TMP bumped down to 2nd and 115th?

Umm, TMP is at the corner of 3rd Ave. and 102nd Street. 115th and 116th are not even on the maps shown above...

Once again I come by here a bit late in the game :( , any way gonna speak my mind here. As to the subject of the cyberpunk world setting, I vote for it, but toned down, as was mentioned near the begining of this thread this is set in the near future, so not too futuristic. To Dontella sorry about being late with my character's business local, The business is Chris Striker, Private Investigator and I'd like to have it located on the corner of Lexington and 101st(the nothern corner judging by the real world map). To Fenmeral, this will seem a bit egotistical :embarrass , but, if you do anymore news bits for this future world, you can list in the local news of my character(Detective Chris Striker P.I., former member of NYPD's Special Victums Unit) as having solved some murder or rape case involving some local offical or other publically recognized individual(or aiding in the investigation of such event). Any way, thats my check in for the TMP project, will check back more often, especially since those of us wanting to participate in this may have to play it out here on the board for a time :P . Keep up the good work and best wishes to Pounamu and her make shift crew of player/room designers :) .

I'm quite lost about where 2nd and 116 came from...

Generally I'd say "No, please no! We can't move it again after Dontella has started on the maps!" but in this case (because you're such a loyal player), I'll be leniant and say sure, but let's move it to 3rd and 102nd rather than 2nd and 115th. :P ;)

If people wish to have cyberpunk in the setting "officially", could people please write up some info on it and how it relates to our specific setting for others to agree/comment on? I agree that it shouldn't be too over the top, we're only talking 25years distant after all.

Please keep in mind that despite the modern setting, the Code of Conduct is in force as much as it is in the fantasy settings. I don't want anyone focusing too heavily on things such as rape which undoubtedly can bring up some rather nasty things to some peoples' minds and memories. A brief mention in play is generally acceptible but don't go into any detail. I suspect that the longevity of items concerning rape on the boards or on any official website will depend upon the views of others as to how acceptible they are.

My greatest appologies, I've made more then a slight naming error and numberical error. In the future, I'd advise all present to take anything typed at 12:30 local in the morning (perhaps I should just avoid doing so) with a grain of salt. I ment to say I had a problem with location of The Blast Zone (my business, which I sometimes refere to as TBZ) and not TMP. Once again, I have no problem with the location of TMP, a thousand pardons for the error, for being a slight pain, and you can put it (TMP) where ever you'd like/see fit.
Now, to my orginal problem... I wanted The Blast Zone to be part of a small, fairly new, street corner market plaza that's been errected near some NYC slums where nice people meet to build a life together... for the most part. I also wanted it so that every once in a while some less then straight forward acts go on and for color, some local gangs show occational opposition to the idea urban renewal. Someone, I think ssussunriyh suggested a location for TBZ at some point. Simply put, I just need a corner that's not on 2 main streets, near enought to a colorful residental area and preferible not too close to a police station. Up or down a street should be acceptible.
