The Most Broken Thing Ever

Corlon

First Post
okay, thrash my discovery with errata's and whatnot, but I just wanted to put it out there.

First, rouge level (enter number here, about 10-20)
Sneak attack at lowest 5d6 (5d8 with improved sneak attack (traps and treachery))
Quicker than the eye (not needed but very, very helpful) (song and silence)
A wand of flame bolt, about 15th level

For those of you who don't know about flame bolt, it is in the sacrred lands relics and rituals book.

Evocation lv 1
basically the same as magic missle except that it does fire damage, it requires a ranged touch attack for every bolt, and it gets 2 bolts +1 every two levels (no max!)

In tome and blood, they describe the fact that a rouge can use sneak attack with a spell.

Since flamebolt requires a touch attack, the rouge can sneak attack with it.

Therefore, since each require a touch attack, the rouge can sneak attack with all of them.

15th level caster wand gives 9 bolts.

10 level rouge with this, can deal (granted he hits with all of them) a whopping... 45d8 +9d4+9 DAMAGE!!!!!

and thats only one shot, with haste thats... 90d8 + 19d4+ 18 damage.

Now, is there anything besides GMs that stops me from doing this??

(and remember, the rouge can use the wand granted he has one level of wiz/sorc or use magic device)

sneak

i think the rule on sneak attack was that only the 1st attack in a series of attacks gave the D6 bonuses. could be wrong here, but lets see what others say.

He's right, you only get sneak attack once, no matter how many orbs you are firing that round. Same with the orb spells from T&B, same with throwing 3 throwing stars.

Even if there *was* nothing but GMs to stop you, they still would. :)

Crothian and jg are right, and it makes sense IRL. Say someone shoots you in the back with a crossbow. You will then know that someone is shooting a crossbow at you, and respoind accordingly, within miliseconds. Unless you're dead, of course.:(

no more of that for me, but still, thats 5d8 +9d4 +9, still a lot of damage:D

beat that fighters!:p

there's probably a way, but...

It would make sense, but then it'd be broken!

question: is speed armor from defenders of the faith errated, or canceled, cause it is broken?

Look at the Iaijutsu Master in Oriental Adventures. I made a quick 14th level character who can easily dish out 2d8+10d6+70 in one round. However, he can only use it in the surprise round of combat.

6th/8th level Fighter/Iaijutsu Master

However, if you make him a 5th/2nd/7th level Fighter/Rogue/Iaijutsu master, he can use this trick more often, thanks to Bluffing a feint. He can sheathe his sword, and bluff out his opponent (with a +21 Bluff check, it should be easy), then strike the next round.

Sorry, but no...Bluff leaves your opponent unable to use his Dex modifier against you. Iaijutsu Focus requires a flat-footed opponent. The two conditions are not the same.

(You would, however, get your sneak attack damage.)
