The Nameless Legion: Archon Lance- Mission #1

Scorch - Firemage

Scorch claps her hands in excitement. "Oh, that was wonderful! I'm afraid I'm not that nimble... allthough, I am quite able to make others jump around like that when I am in my playful mood!"

"What do you do?"

"I wield the power of the Lords of Battle to... Do you know the anecdote of the barbarian chief asking his sons ´What´s the best in life?´" says Warfiend after a while.

ooc: Isida hasn´t posted in a while in other games, so maybe is busy with something

"Nothing too complex, as you can guess. Something about crushing enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentations of their women."

Scorch - Firemage

"Ooo, stories! I love stories, but I guess this might not be the time, nor the place, for fireplace stories..."

She seems to be getting impatient, looking at the door every other minute, waiting for the last member of the new lance to appear.

OOC: She's not the only one... :) Any word on Isida?

Sul Ilumé - Lumi fighter

Precisely on time, not a second before or after, the last member of the lance strides into the room. She is a tall and powerfully-built lumi woman with the typical glowing white skin and hair of her race. Her head is smooth and hairless, and her face has the black tattoo of the Nameless Legion woven across it. She is clad in elegant mithril full plate with a full helm under one arm. At her side she carries a black flail, and on her arm she bears a gleaming spiked silvery shield. She looks at everyone with a cool and direct gaze.

"I greet you. I am Sul Ilumé, shield breaker and field commander," she says in a clear and ringing voice, once that could be heard on every corner of a battlefield with little difficulty.

OOC - Sorry, Isida was home and without much in the way of internet.

"I´m Warfiend; those are Trick and Scorch. Are we expecting someone else? I´d say we´re complete." says the armored man.

After a few minutes of chatter amongst yourselves, you all look up to witness a winged creature enter the room. This creature is covered in green feathers, and large wings fill the gap between his hands and his upper torso. This head is shaped like a bird, with a large, tan beak and stern eyes that you can tell have seen their fair share of battle. His feet are shaped like claws, with two foreward toes and one rear toe. Those of you that are melee fighters immediately notice that the creature is wearing no armor, though he wields a bow and what appears to be a custom-made dual quiver on his back. The only piece of clothing he wears is a belt, and attacked to the belt is the symbol of the Storm Howlers cadre. Across his face is the tell-tale Tattoo of Amity that marks him as a fellow Legionnaire.

He takes his place at the lecturn, and stares evenly at the four of you. “Cawwwl right, Legionnaires, settle down.” After pausing for a second, he continues on. “My name is Skystrike, and welcome to Archon Lance. You four will be serving together as an elite quick-response team… the Legion’s finest, if you will. I’ve had the chance to hand-pick each of you for this lance, and I know you’ll do me proud.”

For Sul Ilume:
[SBLOCK]
You have heard of Skystrike’s exploits on the field of battle amongst other Shield Breakers. They say he is so quiet, that the enemy never even notices him above them until he lets loose his arrows.
[/SBLOCK]

For Warfiend:
[SBLOCK]
You have heard of Skystrike’s exploits on the field of battle amongst other Shield Breakers. They say that he has arrows for every foe in his never-ending quiver: everything from cold iron to byeshk. Some even say he has an arrow of disintegration for stubborn foes who refuse to drop.
[/SBLOCK]

For Trick:
[SBLOCK]
Your keen eye recognizes Skystrike’s race as an aarakocra, and judging by his coloring and markings, he looks like he originated from Athas, which means he probably has some psychic abilities as most residents there do. You recall back in time to a mission where you needed to duplicate a member of his race, and you were found out because you could not duplicate their psionic abilities.
[/SBLOCK]

For Scorch:
[SBLOCK]
You remember Freeze mentioning to you about Skystrike. You remember he is a great and honorable fighter for the Storm Howlers, and is one of the best ranged fighters in the Legion.
[/SBLOCK]

He looks at each of you in turn. “Sul Ilume, Lumi Fighter. One of the Shield Breaker’s most ferocious fighters, and one who gives no quarter. Warfiend, a Favored Soul also from the Shield Breakers. Feared fighter for Hextor, and some say a little insane. Trick, the Thoughts of War’s Changeling of a million faces, each one more perfect than the last. And finally Scorch, the fire-wielding Rune Bearer.” He grins. “Yes, a deadly group, for sure, but this Lance isn’t just about fighting. Each of you has seen your fair share of that. In order for you to rise in the Legion, you must also learn the other aspects the Legion carries out.”

“Which leads me to your first mission. This is an investigation mission, though our clerics tell us it is one of critical importance.” Skystrike reaches into his belt pouch, and pulls out an orb. He places the orb on the table, and speaks a work aloud: “Show”. The orb instantly casts an illusion onto the table top. The illusion is that of a large, bustling town. “This is the city of Rhale. It is a somewhat large trading town situated on the southern peninsula of Aglarond, on the world of Faerun. At least, it was. Less than 12 hours ago, the entire city was destroyed. Witnesses say something came out of the sky and laid waste to the entire city and its surroundings. Aglarond is in a constant state of conflict with the neighboring nation of Thay, and the nation fears that the Red Wizards of Thay have caused the destruction. Aglarond, fearing another assault, has begun marshalling its forces at the Thayan border. Because of this, Aglarond’s leader, the Simbul, has hired us to investigate the destroyed city. Your mission is this: find out why the city was destroyed, and its cause. If it is indeed the Red Wizards behind it, notify the Simbul and inform her our services are for hire, as always.”

He reaches for a piece of paper from his folder. “This is a map of the Aglarond peninsula. Rhale is about 8 miles east of Nethta, and here is the Simbul’s residence in Velprintalar.”

“But keep your eyes open. Our clerics, through commune, have learned that it is direly important we take this mission. Why? We don’t know… but then again, grunts like us are never told the whole picture. Standard looting rules apply… though be careful not to take anything from the citizenry. The Worldgate will drop you off a few miles from the city. Any questions?”
